about their '76 premiership ruckman Dean Herbert"

"He could have really gone on with if he'd stayed
we only got him for one year on the promise of
releasing Rob Wiley to Richmond the next year
and as soon as the season was up Herbert went home .. and
later went off the footy rails unfortunately "
-Yovich

later played bunch of games for st kilda
what would went off the footy rails mean ?

Another example of the two player rule. last round 1937

"As it turned out, the match at Goomalling was the only fixture played to a finish ; by a mutual arrangement at Jennacubbine the Wongan Hills and Mumberkine teams each fielded only two players and after scoring level declared a draw and then came to Goomalling.
Jennacubbine journeyed to Konnongorring but owing to receiving news that one of their player's (Hazelbloom) father had died in the city, abandoned the match."

All these causes contributed to make a large attendance.

Features prominently in the highlights here (number 20) of an early 1980 game against Richmond which was probably his best game for the Saints when he kicked 5 goals.
