Utah is s**t, Amy Adams is s**t and Lois Lane as a character is s**t.

I hope this helps settle a few disagreements on here.
Not in the least. Amy Adams is way too good for those crap DC movies - everyone is bad in them and they are bad.

hero--xl

Sssssh...

Was just trying to poke the hornet's nest.
I can see that - I do have two sons - but have been waiting to have time to defend AA and dump on the steaming pile of s**t that is those two Superman movies and couldn't hold it in any more.

Oh I don't mind Amy Adams though I know her from Enchanted and US Office.

Never sat through DC stuff .. though was that one with Benedict Cumbatch (or whatever his name is) astrally projecting a DC film? He was reasonable in it.

They look pretty silly though. Nothing like the Gene Hackman stuff I enjoyed way back when that you kids would understand that.

Doctor Strange was Marvel. Also a bit silly but they manage not to be ponderous - the DC ones (Superman, Batman) take themselves soooo seriously and are just turgid.

You can't diss Lois Lane if you recall Margot Kidder.

No... Margot Kidder?!

Look, she played it well but what part of that character was a realistic incentive to give up superpowers for? Absolute drag.

I'd add a friend's assessment of this very scenario from years ago that included 'wouldn't dump', 'load of kryptonite', 'down throat' and 'let alone give up superpowers for' but that would be a bit crass and inappropriate for this forum.

And then you have Kate Bosworth's Lane who was too designed by committee.

Moral: Superman should've stuck with Lana Lang

Note: this has nothing to do with Amy Adams

Struggling to see the Utah connection as well to be honest.

Polygamy is hip in Utah, Jack Thompson was a polygamist, Jack Thompson was in a Star Wars film (RIP Star Wars), Star Wars theme by John Williams, John Williams wrote the Superman theme, Amy Adams will be in a Superman film.

Surprised I had to explain it to be honest.

That is really impressive. Consider me put back in my place. :thumbsu:

Is Amy Adams the girl in the change room when Silent Bob goes head first through the wall? If so, I'd like to congratulate her on her delivery of the iconic line "what the *? You *er!".

Joey Lauren Adams is who you are thinking of.

It would be more crass if the load wasn't kryptonite.

the baby plover chick found a gap in the fence and took off down the road, now the parents have caught on and are causing havoc 3 doors down, the hole has promptly been patched up so they aint coming back, thank goodness that episode is over....... for me at least.

so got to get over the lawns b4 the rain hits and without being harassed by the plovers, pretty good result all up.

You're a hard man it's quite cute.

The place is good. The training benefits meh.

..waits for an upset GG to go for a roundhouse..
Hey, I'm the first person to agree about the training benefits being hocus pocus. I'm an evidence man. Yes you work harder but you can't work at the same intensity so it's counterproductive. I just like the facilities, the chance to get away, and mixing it up. Psychology of a player is super important and I've spoken to 2 current AFL assistant coaches as well as a few coaches at AIS and they will tell you a motivated athlete is a good athlete. Particularly from a recovery point of view.

That's reassuring. I'm glad they need a picturesque overseas setting to motivate themselves. For a moment I thought being paid 6 figures to play sport at an elite level with a bunch of likeminded mates would be enough to drive them on.

Absolute bastards when they have chicks... I did a job at Brisbane airport a few years ago, analysing the drains for pfos, work was airside so I was escorted by security, and two plovers were hassling me, as there was a chick swimming in the drainage channels, so the security guy went to his car and returned with a shotgun, and told me he would take action if they came back.... I told him I'd rather he didn't and thankfully I'd finished up without more issues. Would have been pretty funny though.

The year is long. Pre-season is draining, first lot of games are taxing, mid-season - will we or won't we make the finals, contract talks, potentially finals, end of year reviews. All mentally draining and some athletes aren't equipped to handle that, hence why North have had researchers testing the players and their mental toughness etc. And why we have people on hand now. Coaches themselves are taught this side of performance and how it can have an impact on performance and recovery (think sleep quality etc.)

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they doing this before the pre-season has started? So it is extra they are putting in. They should be applauded for getting in extra before the real training starts.
