The Herald Sun may be putting it on thick, but if you blatantly deny the African immigration correlation to violent crime you need to get your head out of your blind one eyed asshole.
Bring back the 90’s when the media was reporting the Asian gangs stabbing everyone....

Far fewer home invasions back then.

I think there's a big issue with crime in general. in Melbourne. The system often sickens me with lenient time served for violent murderous crimes vs the years stolen from victims and their families. Apparently 10-20 years meets community expectations for a cold blooded murder. I can tell u though it doesn't meet mine.

Going down a notch we have had police allegedly targeted by African "gangs" which is a first for suburban Melbourne I would have thought. We've had a car used as a weapon twice within a year. Actually three times. That hasn't happened before.

Everyone is angry about crime, but nothing ever actually gets done. Both sides of politics now scrambling to use it to their advantage when both sides should have done better to fix the problem.

Is it a sign of the times that things seem to be getting worse? Maybe I'm just getting old?

The general level of respect for any type of authority is disturbing.

Anyone is fair game to be questioned, bullied, or intimidated.

It is alarming for everyone.

The days when you swore at the police you would get locked up for a few hours are far gone. You can say what you like to police and nothing happens.
The offenders are not afraid of the consequences as they know nothing will happen.
Whatever happened to days when the yellow pages over the back of the head made you show some respect.
Melbourne has become not a place to be that’s why I’m moving in a few months

You're getting old. Melbourne now part of the larger world and not just a quiet little backwater at the arse end of the world. The amount of factors that contribute to all the aforesaid problems would keep this thread going for a while.
Me ? I don't think things will ever improve. Maybe that's the pessimist in me. Gap between the haves ( in which l include myself ) and the have not's ever widening.
Planet overpopulated, resources will dwindle, global warming, never-ending conflicts, idiots like Trump & Kim.
Meh. Can we make a difference ? Locally, maybe. Globally, nah.

went to blue light disco, can confirm Asians carried knives.
We should have a thread about blue light discos. The scariest thing I ever saw at a blue light disco was a bad case of pash rash.

The first 1000 days are the most important of human life, research is telling us.

Thats where the $$$ shouild be going and the followed up with Parenting classes through to 7 years of age.

We reap what we sow...and half a century of being the kids 'friend' has got us into the polarisation of social norms and behaviour.

Some of the fashion choices were also quite terrifying. Skin tight Fabergé jeans, pastel pink or lemon yellow v-neck jumpers (preferably Arnold Ross brand) and high-top Rollers desert boots immediately spring to mind.

Postie's/couriers should not be allowed to leave anything outside the house unless you sign off, regardless of size. Leave a card and go pick it up from the post office. Had someone in my area lose their child's new car seat after it was delivered and left at his front door. Security footage shows it was stolen by a woman who loaded it in her car and left.
