Does anyone know if raw dream team data is available for download anywhere?

Stuff I am after are things like players scores each round and price.

I know the information is available on a few websites around the place but I would like to be be able to download the raw data into an exel spreadhseet so I can play with it.

I'm really loving all the talk and analysis here in the preseason. Many quality posts with deep insight which continually opens the mind to new ideas. However, I think a great addition here would be that all posters have their ranking stated in their avatar. This would add much credence or information about the poster in question for us to determine if it is worth taking their posts as gospel.

For instance, if a poster's rank was say 5,900 in 2010, I, with a 2010 ranking of 2005 would take this into consideration when questioning his nous. I just think this would be a great additional feature and would provide an additional basis for believability rather than solely the information and analysis in the post.

Am I onto something here?

I don't see the point TBH. A guy like Baxters or Skankdanker for example finished in the thousands last year but were top 5 in previous years. Doesn't mean their opinion is any less valued or their knowledge is any less. They know how to play the game.

IMO you're better off treating every post on it's merits and deciding whether you agree with it or not. It's not hard to separate the dribble from quality. This time of year most people posting are pretty die hard and know their stuff so you're safe but from March on it becomes tougher.

Many of the experienced DTrs are also private board members of places like No Passengers, Fantasy Footy Club and EDT. This is a pretty fair indication they know what they're doing.

Agreed. It seems silly to disregard information/perspectives just because the person doesnt seem to rank as high as others. Remember that the individual can hold fantastic theoritcal skills, but not have quite the ability to apply them. Does this mean that their "theory" is not highly valuable to others? Of course not.

Desperate plea for credibility Lakey? as your ranking doesn't cut it:D

Using your own mathematical progression theory (remember --the one you used to predict a top 10 finish for yourself for 2010 only to finish south of 2000) the predicted ranking for yourself 2011 is 25847.

Lets see you put your fantastic theoretical skills to good use one of these years.

There isn't any need, we're all capable of judging each post on its merits. Shouldn't have to worry about who its coming from too much if the info/theory is good.

Thanks mate. I wouldn't of thought he played up forward enough last season to justify that.
Neither, you would expect we would see players like Ablett get mid/fwd with ease if Gilbert is able to get fwd/def but who knows with VS/championship.

As for Big A:
I think it would look cool/be rewarding for those doing well to show off their rankings but at the end of the day it is probably just going to cause pointless arguments eg: poster A not taking into consideration what poster B has to say just because of their rankings (pretty childish but I am sure it would happen). There are already enough pointless posts in the DT board and the mods are trying to keep this to a low and this would just create more work for them.

Be nice to see DT 2011 available as an iphone application similar to SC in 2010.

Anyone heard if this is coming for DT?

always handy to be able to log in remotely at the last minute rather than having to hover around the computer waiting for lockout to arrive. yes you can use the iphone's internet capability to log in for picking emergency and C & VC options however found the format difficult to use for trading purposes.

My mail says there will be a DT app this year! ;)

If they want $5 PER MONTH for it you can pass some mail back that they can jam it up their Dual Position...

Bahahaha... I wouldn't think that'll be a per month thing (mega fail by the AFL last year with that app I think). Probably be the same as what we go with the SC app.

aflwap.virtualsports.com.au works pretty well for making last minute changes when you're out and about. Would still be nice to see a proper iPhone DT app though.

Has consensus been reached on how to tackle the byes this season?

- If you're playing for the league win, take plenty from multiple bye round teams such as the Dogs, Hawks, Cats and Saints.

- If you're going for the overall (as most on here at this time of year are) have no more than 2 of your total players in any one position with the bye in the same week (incl subs). The only exception to this would be GC where you could take 3 in one position as you will know they are covered for round 1 and some will be upgraded by Rd 9

- Balance your DP links so you have extra cover at least in the fwds backs and mids.

- Look at you team as a whole so if you move a player through DP to another position how will this affect the position he's moved from. Main issue early is the multi bye rounds with good teams (Rd 4 and 6).

- If possible, plan your rookies so they have later byes. This way they can be upgraded after only 1 bye. If you have a coin flip premium leave the one out with early byes (eg Gazza).

This thread needs to get used more IMO, people asking questions off topic in other threads isnt great and stops good arguments.

If you have got the AFL weekly email sent to you for the past few years you could do it that way although that would be pretty time consuming. Can't think of another way to check it easily.

Or player prices from years 07-2010?? salary aswell

I suppose i could just get the magic numbers and times that by there previous years avg?
