Two dumb questions for someone who has done DT as long as I have:

Q1) Do Kick-ins count as stats? I'm pretty sure they don't unless they play on right?

Q2) Is the player's price based on the last 3 rounds only? For some reason I thought it was 5 with it weighted more towards the last three. Is it based on a formula that can be calculated?

1) No they dont count as stats, unless they play-on.
2) Slightly incorrect. If a rookie on 85k gets 3 scores of 120 in a row, they wont instantly rocket up to a price of 600k with Dane Swan. Its a rolling average of 3 scores, and the amount of increase or decrease is dependant on the players current price. So a player worth 500k who gets 3 scores of 20 in a row, wont drop down 85k, but they will take a massive hit in price.

How good will the vegemite kings be this year?
i doubt ill finish with a ranking better than last years 1990. Competition this year has stepped up a notch, and im already 400 points off the pace. Still, mbosca from memory was ranked 20K+ after 2 rounds, so theres a glimmer of hope for my team to make up ground. Not holding my breathe though.

A lot of the post-round 2 "top teams" have non-playing bench rookies and LOTS of them, not just a couch. But like every single one.

I predict these teams do either two things:
-were never serious DTers and don't trade
-think they are serious and trade in a pile of playing rookies over the next few rounds... (though they can't afford any of the good ones)

Then those teams run out of trades earlier and you rise up the rankings in rounds 15+. Plus they'll fail miserably over the bye weeks if they continue with their non-playing bench.

First two rounds doesn't mean a whole lot as every player in your side might be overperforming or underperforming against their total end of 2012 average and might just be setting an earlier high SD up or they may have established their true average (which I doubt for non-midfield players).

Having said all of that my team is sitting at 331 with every player in my team playing (JMc excluded)... but I still think some of my premiums have been overperforming so far...

Basically after round 2 i just want to make sure i have selected the right cash cows and my premiums arnt going to lose much money. Also the ones i didnt pick eg: Swan, Martin, Enright, Scottland, Chapman, SJ, Suckling, Rockliff, Barlow, Redden, Goodes, Pav, Beams are going to lose money and ill be able to trade these players in easily for a much cheaper price.

I expect my team to really dominate from round 3-10. Ive picked my team purely on these rounds so hopefully all goes well and i have all my premiums playing each week in Griffen, Mumford and Duffield.

FWIW whenever i have started at the top from experience after the first 2 rounds i have always dropped off and finished worse than when i have started slowly been shit after the first 2 rounds and i somehow always end up ranking higher. Not sure if this is noticed amongst others?

Ive noticed the same, i think its because if you start slower you tend to trade more aggressively. Which judging by jetta vendetta last year is a good way to go, as long as you get the trades right.

i have a question about Dual Position Players. does it matter if they actually play the position or not? i am thinking of dumping Adam Goodes and moving Adam Kennedy to forward and picking up Matthew Boyd to replace Kennedy in the midfield. if i move kennedy to forward and he plays midfield in round 3 do i still get points or does he have to play the position i move him to?

You get their points no matter what position they actually play on the day.

Can anyone please provide me with the details of the substitutes for the Sydney/Fremantle game?

I've got Barlow & Hannebery in but not sure on who was subbed off or when.

Also if they let me know what quarter Mellington/Duffield got injured I'd be obliged.

Could anybody help me decide whether to trade out Enright? :)

Beginning to wonder why I picked him when his average was only high due to his 2-3 huge games last year...

Depends solely on who your other backline members are. If you don't have Deledio or Goddard then yes, otherwise I'd stick with him personally.

Is Johno Brown this week? I am hoping so because I want Rockliff to assume his usual role.

Also, how will Black's injury affect Rocky? You would assume that he would inherit a tag maybe?

You sure do. Some of the positions players have been named in are strange. Conca's played about 2 games in the backline for his whole career, Vickery's named solely as a forward.

Thats happened to me the last 2 years. 2011 i was ranked 265 after round 1, and in 2010 i was ranked 65 after round 1. But both years i would drop back to around 10k before finally catching up over the last 10 rounds.

Cant scoff at a good start to the year though. Would be interesting to go back through the winners of the previous 5 years and see what their lowest ranking was and at what round for that year.

in the bye rounds what's an "acceptable" amount of duck eggs on the field?? Because im up **** creek in round one but I feel I wouldnt be alone in that regard with the teams having the bye that round (GWS a key one)?. as it stands Im loosing 15 players week 1.. 7 week 2 and 8 week 3. Do I just sacrifice a week?? I'm only interested in going well in my league of mates. I'm a first time DT player so any information would be great

Would be very interesting

Last years winner was ranked 26k after round 2 or there abouts.

Maybe you can ask Team Director, The convicts and maybe ask Shellers and Skankdanker who have come close 2nds.

Also Impromptu the supercoach winner of 2011?

Most are in the famous thread, so maybe ask.

Basically what it tells me is that rounds 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 are just as important as rounds 1-2. Most people don't start bringing in the big guns until round 6 unless they started with too much coin in the kitty or they have downgraded a keeper to a rookie.

It just means that 2 rounds is too small a sample size to judge the quality of a dream team. Being 26k out after 2 rounds means you are very much in the hunt. Being 26k out after 10 rounds means you are waaay off the mark.

Yeah and once again it seems the quality has greatly increased this year compared to last year, not sure why just feels like thats the case.

So i reckon if your ranked 50k after 2 rounds your very much in the hunt.

Just need to start getting those consistent top 5k rankings each week for the next 8 rounds.
