Yeah, I may be biased but I think he has shown more than Hartlett (injuries), Hill (fallen away IMO, but that could be partly due to how crap Freo was this year) Rich (solid mid but nothing special).

I think the 4 stand out players to date have been, in order, NitNat (freak), Hurley (KPP are gold), Watts (shown enough to suggest he will be great) and Yarran (his move to the backline has been HUGE). This obviously doesn't include Rockliff (god he has been good) and Garlett (would have been in the AA suqad if he was able to keep up his early season form). God I have just realised that Shuey and Hannebery were in the draft too. Talk about a STRONG draft for both depth and top-end talent !!!!!!!

Tyrone Vickery & Jackson trengove go alright aswell !!

Will we see another AFL player crack 400 games?

Who should Carlton target for a strong marking forward?

Ralphy: "Blues have a raft of talls they are already developing, including Levi Casbolt, Matthew Watson, Pat McCarthy and Luke Mitchell. And Henderson is coming on, and Kreuzer is going to be a gun. I think they are in good hands.''

I think that most of the journo's are going to take the same sort of view as Ralphy. We have a good collection of tall forwards in the pipe works and I think that we are going to be in the market for another tall defender. I think that we should be looking at Tim Mohr from Casey.

However, I think that GWS might also be looking at him.

I wouldnt be opposed to trading that 1st rounder for an available player either.

I think most of us would be for it.
With most of our tradable players tied up now (assuming rumours on Hampson signing is correct), only a mix of the first and a fringe player may get us something of value.

I think we're set down back to be honest.
Henderson might go forward eventually, but we have 2 very good prospects to replace him when that happens. In the mean time we have Bower, White & Thornton as capable depth (Austin looks gone). We should focus on letting them gel as a unit.

Getting some competition for KP forward spots should be a priority.
Waite will go in. But as much as i'm enjoying their work, Setanta and Thornton shouldn't be walk up starts. I'd like to add another forward to compete with these 2 for that last spot. Someone on the same level (aka not costing us much) but with more natural ability as a forward.

If we think we can trade cheaply for another Laidler type gem, then go for it.

As mentioned, i'd be very open to trading our first rounder.

As for the drafts, always go best available but lean towards:
1 ruckman (rookie)
1 full forward
1 Dylan Buckley
1 midfielder
2 mature age players

Including rookies? I doubt we'll make 5 changes to the senior list, especially if you don't include Tuohy as an elevation.

We may be lucky to do draft three onto the senior list at this stage.

My impression is that we may be happy to trade with our first, use our second on Buckley, pick up a player with our third and elevate Tuohy.
Clear a couple on the rookie list and have three to four selections there for one or two mature aged players.

Agree with this.

I agree with this.

However, we may yet attack trade week with a bit of gusto as some of our depth players are good enough to attract interest from other clubs. I imagine there may be a couple who would want opportunities they are not getting and if we package up a couple we may get a handy player back.

A tall forward would be good, mature aged to fill the gap between Waite and Setanta's exits and the rise of the youngsters like Mitchell.

I think its possible we may not see a lot more of Waite. He will play at 29 next year and his body has never been all that durable.

BTW, B. Goddard anyone? He now knows he will never win a flag with the Aints and he did so love the Blues. GWS would have the cash but we are the contenders and I would think thats what he wants more than anything.

I know Aints would want six first round picks plus Murf and Yaz for him but maybe they'd take our first rounder plus Mark Austin and a signed Judd jumper for him...they took less for Luke Ball after all.:D

****ing annoying 'email fail' - haven't been able to post for the week leading up to the semis  (and have been too lazy to activate)

Anyways, after watching the Sydney vs. Hawthorn game, i am extra keen on Jesse White. He was effectively average. He didn't hit the contests hard and didn't impose himself on the game. He looks like a guy shot on confidence and in need of a change. However, i still see a massive guy, who has loads of athleticism, decent foot skills and a decent ability to read the play. IMO, he looks a lot like Quinten Lynch from last season (different game styles, playing in a similar way)

Also, despite the great depth in our midfield, i still think we could be one inside mid short (hopefully Curnow's shoulder comes right!). If someone like Shane Valenti or a guy like Ashton Hams becomes available, would it be worth a crack?
