Ashton Kutcher plays footy?

The Eagle we should look at is Koby Stevens.

We need another potential grunt and in and under player.

I'd be all for getting Koby, looks the type but cant break into WCE midfield with all their in and under players. Would complement our midfield perfectly.

Yep. Been saying for a while now that Stevens would be a fantastic addition to our squad.

Vic boy that has not been given many opportunities at senior level. Tough nut that could develop into a very handy inside mid.

Sounds similar to the position Laidler was in with the Cats. .. have no idea about the lad but that is a recipe for been poached. ..

Well if Paul Bower goes I would look at the Eagles list as The dockers have no one we need except Matthew Pavlich who will never go.Their only Jayden Pitt and Nick Suban both Victorian.

I like him also, would be a good get, should talk to his manager ear and get him back home at Carlton.

Not a bad thought, you'd have to wonder if any Saints stars will be up for grabs following the fall out with Ross Lyon. They're well and truly in disarray at this point in time.
Love to get Goddard, kind of surprise he want to stay loyal at a sinking ship and not have a crack to get a flag with the club he supported.

Was a massive blues fan
Wouldn't say he was a massive supporter as a massive supporter would think of bailing and trying to get to that club even for less money then he would for any club. AFL players are pretty much set up especially big time players, unless they are drug addicts or gamble their money.

You can be a massive supporter of a club, but there is this thing that stops them from just up and leaving. It's called loyalty... it is worth more than money and there are only a few current AFL players who know what it means without having to look in a dictionary. Fortunately, most of them play for Carlton.

Stephen Kernahan would have had a mountain of money thrown at him to be the inaugural captain of the club... but he had found his spiritual home at Carlton and he wouldnt move at all... they are going to be carrying him out of the place feet first before he leaves. It is pretty much the same as just about anyone who has ever pulled on the old dark navy blue.

Sticks was already at Carlton before Adelaide even came into the comp. As for Goddard id offer the Aints Russell,Bower and our 1st round pick for him? Will prob get shouted down from both sides..

Everybody knows that. However, when Adelaide was added to the comp the Crows went as wild after him as GC did for Ablett and GWS did for Scully. There was no amount of money that Adelaide wasn't prepared to offer to get Sticks to the Adelaide Football Club. Fortunately for us, as Dramoth alluded to, there was no amount of money that could sway Sticks to leave the Carlton Football Club. The same can be said for Craig Bradley. Now similar things can be said for Kreuzer, Murphy and Henderson in relation to GWS and others that we're probably unaware of.

If we lose one to them, so be it. The stars all stayed true to the NAVY BLUE as they ALWAYS have.

Yes, there have been players who have left the club throughout its proud history. There are players who never should have left (e.g. Aaron Hamill) but those who have been treated fairly and with loyalty have almost always repaid that loyalty in spades. Not many clubs can say that.

Complete hypothetical... If Carlton was to lose a player to GWS and received a band two (end of first round) compensation pick in return for that player, would you on trade that compo pick (and potentially filler) to North for Hansen? Reason why I asked was there's discussion in the trade thread about who North has available for trade. A Richmond fan offered up their second rounder and I responded claiming he was worth similar currency to Richard Tambling last year. Similar draft position only Hansen was two years later so is younger and is a KP.

An interesting proposition & one player I have kept an eye on through the course of the season.
Query is- where would he be suited ? Down back or up front ?
Up front he has been disappointing, good at presenting, but to be honest at about or behind Setanta in terms of what he would offer. Goal kicking conversion is poor. Subject to brain fades.
Down back, well that's interesting.
Does it free up Hendo to play as a CHF ?
Do we want to even play Hendo up forward after his transformation late in the season ?
Can he hold down a key post such as CHB on the marquee forwards ?
I'm not sure that drafting Hansen with a pick in that range actually improves us dramatically, rather than providing depth / coverage for injuries.

But hey, sometimes you gotta roll the dice.......... 11 for Mclean didnt work, but 36 for Laidler has been a master-stroke.

Pick 36 for Laidler and pick 41 (Mitchell).

Makes it even more of a masterstroke. ;)

one of those afl (cfc) legends that doesn't really stand up to closer inspection. sam jacobs the most recent example. left after we persisted with him. grigg. matt allan, left us after spending time on our list overcoming his injuries to some extent. scott camporeale.

Jacobs is a poor example to use when you're discussing loyalty. The fact is we were going to have to trade one of our rucks at some point. We could not possibly keep four rucks on the list at the same time and expect them all to be happy. Four doesn't fit into two and at times neither does three. The club had invested the least of all four into Jacobs when you look at it from a realistic point of view. The club had invested a large salary and had gone to a lot of effort to bring in Warnock. We had invested a priority pick into Shaun Hampson and obviously Kreuzer was the number one pick. Inevitably at least one of those four had to be traded and it was the most convenient for all concerned that it was Jacobs. Although as fans we're entitled to opinions as to who we would have preferred to have traded the truth was that we were in a position where we had little choice. Ultimately, it has worked out well for everyone - Warnock had an amazing first final, Hampson has come along a fair bit this season despite injuries and we still have confidence in Kreuzer. Sauce has done himself proud at Adelaide by cementing his position as a senior AFL grade ruck. I don't see a lack of loyalty in that whatsoever but rather the opposite.

Does anyone think that we may look at cutting McLean at years end?
Maybe not a palatable thing to think about, but I actually see him to have become slower in recent months and as good as he is getting his hands onto the ball, it just doesn't come out as quick as it used to.

I would not be surprised in the least. I anticipate us trying to flog him off onto GWS or GC to give them a veteran at a cheap as dirt exchange (think Ronnie Burns to Adelaide). In regards to our total player payments we may just have to view that one as an addition by subtraction.

I hear what you are saying about Jacobs and agree with some points. The issues i had with Jacobs leaving are that he was offered a new contract by the club, we didnt want him to go. He decided to move on but he didnt appear to be too concerned about whether we got adequately compensated from Adelaide (which we didnt). We were the only club to show any interest in him prior to last year and invested 4 years into him. I would have been happier if he had told Adelaide that if a deal that suited Carlton couldnt be reached that he would stay with us, he was wanted afterall.
It is vital now that we retain Hampson too. As you have pointed out we used a priority pick on him and have spent 5 years developing him.
Ruckmen are crucial to every team and are also injury prone so having 3 on a list is the minimum.

We should try hard to get McLean a new home, GWS or GC would be ideal for him. It doesnt right that he has to play out another year with the Bullants, which will happen unless we get a terrible run of injuries next season (touch wood).
For his sake i hope he finds a new home, even if we have to pay the bulk of his contract we can add another youngster to our list on the minimum wage.

I'm a McLean fan... Hope beyond hope he is kept and we work in his speed. Too bulky in his first year with us, which resulted in him slimming down a crapload for this year. Maybe he just needs some consistency with his body to start playing some good football again. Add to that he hasn't been given an extended recently then I say we just haven't managed him properly.

Taken from the article in the age about Hendo

Confidence, as Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger observed - and if anyone should know, it is him - goes quickly and returns slowly.

Going back helps Blues move forward

Now apply that to Rusty Russell. He was down on form and confidence half way through the season and has slowly been working back into it. He missed the pre-season and never really looked comfortable.

We all know that he is a confidence player... his first years at the Blues under Pagan showed us that. And we also know that he occasionally reads BF and how our comments affect him. Now, when he is down on confidence, we are making up all sorts of rumours about him leaving the club he really loves and if he comes on here and reads them, then they will be affecting his confidence as well.

He is a required player and he wont be leaving... unless something really awesome is offered for him and the club decides to take it. A Judd type offer which isnt going to happen.
