Tom Hawkins to Carlton

I've been thinking about this for quite some time now!
Carlton needs a solid full forward, and Hendo looks like he'll be the preferred CHB instead of Bower when Jamo comes back.

I'm not sure how long Tomahawk has left in his contract but I think he'll be looking for a new home as he's not getting enough game time at geelong as Podsiadly, Mooney and Stevie J all keeping him out of the side......

what does everyone think about that????

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Oh and Mooney hasn't even been playing and Pods is nearing 30 so they will do everything they can to keep him.

Dane Swan and a few of his punk mates beat the snot of a fed square clearer several years ago and the media don't harp on about that.

Main difference is that Swan's was a one time thing whereas Lovett has a record for lousy behaviour.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Pass on Jack Anthony, he's washed up ...

Probably very unlikely but Kurt Tippett's had a horrible season at the crows, they are very keen on Kane Lucas, wonder if a possible trade could be arranged, i doubt it but the club should sniff around anyway.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Just watching Footy Classified and Shane Tuck is rumoured to be facing the guillotine at the end of the year. Would probably be worth picking up, wouldn't he?

30 entering next season. We already have better, younger players at the club playing his exact role. Would be for depth purposes only. Pass.

Yup... would be good to pick up and give to Setanta for ball kicking practice...

But he doesnt do that sort of thing any more... so pass.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

GWS would be mad not to grab Tuck for a year or two. Contested ball winner and clearance machine. Frees up any young mids they pick up to play a more outside role.

From our perspective I have created a list of players I think fit our main need (a tall marking forward).

Sam Reid
Shaun Mckernan
Mitch Brown (Geel)
Aaron Cornelius
Jake Carlisle (playing as a defender now, but I think could make it as a tall forward)

All are young, none would come cheap. All have talent and look like they will be very capable of holding down a key post for the foreseeable future.

What this list shows me more than anything is that unless we get a GWS compo pick at the end of the first round for a player that decides to go we are unlikely to be able to work a trade for any of these players. At least not a trade which won't damage the list in another area.

Sam Reid :thumbsu: :D this one is 50/50
Shaun Mckernan :D this one is more likely to happen
Mitch Brown (Geel) :D this one yes please
Aaron Cornelius  why not, good over head and plays tall
Jake Carlisle (playing as a defender now, but I think could make it as a tall forward)

I hope this happens, but Sydney will want the world for him - unless we have another Warnock like stand off, although other clubs (including Collingwood) would be keen also.

Shaun Mckernan :D this one is more likely to happen

Nasıl biliyor musunuz?

Mitch Brown (Geel) :D this one yes please

I don't mind this idea.

I'd prefer we went for Gilies though.

Aaron Cornelius  why not, good over head and plays tall

Meh, unless he plays as a permanent FF.

Jake Carlisle (playing as a defender now, but I think could make it as a tall forward)

I wouldn't mind him as a lead up forward.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Mitch Brown's a much better prospect than Gillies C4......absolutely no way Geelong would part with him.

Haven't read the entire thread but seeing as we are talking hypotheticals what would it take to get the Big Dog down to Carlton - J. Brown.

Loves Juddy and would be keen to play in one more flag before he retires ??? :D:D

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Lucas and AJ for Sam Reid

Sam Reid has a growing reputation - in trading terms his stock is marked 'Buy' at the moment !!

Be more like Lucas and Hampson for Sam Reid (maybe some exchange of picks).

we cant afford to give away Hampson! I still think think Hawkins is a chance, geelong have a few other up and coming Tall forward targets.

P.s. I know Levi Casboult & Luke Mitchell are injured atm, but how was their form before they got injured? are they worth persisting with once they come back ( maybe not so much Mitchell) or should seek to trade them off for someone who can give us immediate impact???

We would be mad to part with Hampson.

Mitchell will be going no where... And I very much doubt L dog will be leaving aswell. This is the area we are short on, and to let them go before they have even done anything would be a bad move.

It would be worth pursisting with both atm.

I was actually suprised Mitchell lasted until our pick, so i'd definately be giving him time.

GET SAM REID - Make it happen Swanny and Hughes...

We won't be parting with Mitchell and Casboult. Levi has shown plenty this year and is really holding onto his footy in the air. We wouldn't get rid of Mitchell after being injured in his first year.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Mitchell is a beauty, just needs to get his body right. He has a good tank, great hands and is a nice set shot at goal.

At 198cm and an already imposing size, he could be ready to go by next year if his body holds up through a full preseason.

We still need another KPF prospect though.

Re: Tom Hawkins to Carlton

Well yes and no.
I doubt we'll be wanting to trade Hampson, but if he did a "Jacobs" what could we get?

Very hard to marry Hampson up with a trade and if it was to happen it may be one for a suitable player trade.

Hampson for Trengove?
Hampson for Deledio?
Hampson to GWS for pick no. ?

Hampson for Reid would be unlikely as I doubt Sydney are after another ruckman.
Hampson for McKernan? Is that too much of a risk?
