I watch a fair bit of VFL and I think there are several key defenders that we should be looking at. Mohr is a name that I hadn't heard about before this season and having seen him on TV he looks like the type of defender that would play on the gorillas that usually destroy our defence. In the games I've seen he has provided good rebound and has a thumping kick on him. Lots of clubs are rumoured to be looking at him and it wouldn't surprise me if he cost a second round pick.

Toby Thoolen from Frankston is another defender/forward that I like and playing for Frankston has really helped him make the transition from the forward line to the backline.

Thank you Teagueeee
If he is decent enough to be looked at then chances are the AFL bastard child GWS will grab him and sell him to the highest bidder and therefore cost too much.

So we've already lost hope in Watson and McCarthy? Gee whiz, lift your game BF!!

Give me a mid (Col Slyvia out of contract) or a KPF.

This.

Sylvia would compliment our mdifield beautifully.

big bodied midfielder/forward flanker, nice kick on him, knows how to take a grab.

I wonder what it would cost us to get him.

I love Watson, it will be a while before he becomes a regular. It will also be a while before McCarthy puts on enough Kg's to worry opposition forwards.

Sylvia would cost too much and we don't exactly have enough talent that we could spare to trade for him.

Mark Stevens (?) from the HUN reckons he's worth $450k.

If Hoops retires and we delist more than the required 3 players, we might have enough room for him. Don't see him as the type to go to GWS either.

Richmond and Essendon...and Melbourne would loom as likely challengers with more cap space. We have the premiership window lure though :)

He qualifies for Free Agency next season ... so perhaps we're better just waiting (in the hope that he signs a one year extension only - which is unlikely).

I could see Melbourne asking a lot for him come the end of this season - and given that we buckled early with the McLean dealings, they would probably expect the same. $450k per season ... hmmm I'm salivating at the prospect of him in our line up, however given the scenario this season with GWS at the table (and more-so Sheedy to make life hard for us) and the Dylan Buckley scenario ... it would be logistically impossible to arrange for a trade, unless we can agree to a straight swap for a player.

Jon Ralph wrote a SMALL article in the HS (paper version, can't find it online) that he expects we could pick up Buckley cheap. He describes Buckley as "Slightly built midfielder" with an "injury-riddled season meaning little exposed form" and that "Shoulder and ankle injuries mean many youngsters have gone past Buckley". There seems to be other f/s coming through for Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney (would that reduce the number of clubs bidding, as they may already be commiting high picks to these kids ???) and that "The Blues may have to commit only to a late selection"

I asked Emma Quayle on twitter whether she thought we'd get him first or second round....she was fairly sure it'd be second round.

Jon Ralph would have no better idea than what we do :)

But, but, but, I thought he is/was a respected and accurate journalist who writes for an unbiased and accurate Newspaper :D:thumbsu:

I deny everything

I have the quotes. Give me what I want or the world sees them!

Idon't know what I want, but I am interested to see what Splendini would offer

Re: Chad Cornes?

I'm expecting us to make one major acquisition and maybe another small one.

Looking forward to it.

Anyone know much about Jackson Coleman from Sandringham Dragons? (Son of Glenn Coleman, also a cricketer).
