I agree with that Splendini about finding a replacement for Waite, but is Gunston a genuine marking tall or a lead up forward?

We need someone who can clunk marks, not a player who needs it lace out like Walker.

i guess you can't look a gift horse in the mouth if we trade for Gunston.

Forget trading Lucas, Hampson or Russell to get Gunston.

Agreed. Must focus on the needs rather than the wants.

I disagree. If we were to focus on our 'wants' more often we'd find that we wouldn't have as many 'needs'. If there's been a problem with our recruiting, then that's basically it.

Re: Recruitment Thread

Who do you think we should go after in the off season????? We definitely need to find a key forward but I don't know where we could get one from. What about going after Kosi? Post your ideas in here.

Good Game last night guys, very entertaining.

The player that i see that would be perfect for carltons set up & structure and isnt a star 'YET' that your recruiters should really get in the ear of is a brisbane player.

Cornelius ................... Tassie kid fantastic 1 grab mark & dead eye dick from 50-55 also very good on the ground, Can really see this kid becoming a 50-60 goal kpf 192-193cm 90 kg's

Gunston is a lead up forward. Not a gorilla but he makes a contest. Great hands.

Completely disagree. If we didn't focus on our needs, we would still have no backline, no Kreuzer and an even beefier midfield. We did what we had to do last year and basically drafted/traded for a backline.

What do you guys think of us maybe chasing Gumbleton? I know he is injury prone, but we know he can play, and could come cheap? Would it be worth the risk to get him?

rookie him and give him a performance fee... if he can play an entire match, he can get paid that week

This is a 'random trade hypothetical' thread so here goes...

How about targetting Johnathan Brown as theat 'blue chip' forward?

Vossy is a madman after all... and God knows Brisbane need the Picks and youth after Voss stuffed up the Fevola trade and cruelled the current rebuild.

Brownie has turned 30 this year, and next year is on the end of a 4 year deal (in time for free agency). Got a few years left in him yet (while Mitchell and co develop). 2-3 years probably, depending on injuries.

Wont get near the finals again before retirement with Brisbane. Be a win for Brisbane (helps the rebuild), win for Brown (gets back to Vic before retirement and get another chance at a flag), win for the Blues.

Say... JR to Adelaide for (Davis) Compo pick; Our 1st rounder + Compo to the Bears.

Flame away.

I half-jokingly brought this up earlier in the thread but I reckon its do-able.

Need a lot of negotiation and unfortunately Vossy won't want to stuff up another deal with Carlton but it could be done.

Duh!

That's too straight forward for Paf ;p

Swann said the club would concentrate on list management... and that it would be specific when trading, suggesting a key forward was a priority.

"However centre half-forwards don't grow on trees and you have to give something good to get something good," he said.

"It has been a good year and now we need to make the top four next year to give us a real chance.

Man.

Something is on the cards.

Something Big.

brown to the Blues could hypothetically could be a win win for both teams, but the big man will be a one club player and would never let the deal go through. Brisbane wouldnt do it cause you cannot trade a player like Brown, he is the Lions regardless of anything he does on field, more valuable to them in the locker room than anywhere. They hadnt won a game without his since 2005,but that might have changed late this season.

Bloody hell, had to pull this out of my neighbours house while they are away:

Talk of Brown is window licking crazy.

Age, injury and resultant salary cap pressure go against everything we should be trying to achieve over the next five years.

Reid & Gunston are going to get floated a lot, though I wonder if we might aim for more immediate relief.

Dawes would be difficult to prise away, though I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pies have to shed one good quality player. He is a class below where many seem to pitch him, but a great size, works hard and would fit well in our forward line.

Hawthorn play a more mobile and simply better brand of football without two big key power forwards...as good as Roughead is I wonder if they might consider making a hard decision for the good of the list, as they have done in the past.

Can't see that we could compete with the GC dollars or go home factor for Tippett, Mitch Clark doesn't interest me in the least. Interesting weeks ahead.

Guilt and pain haunting me everyday
Crushing me and I can't get away
Killing my heart and soul
Oh my Nicole
Still I don't know what to say
Tortured every night and day
Isn't in my control

I said no
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole I said no, no
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole (I said no)
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole (I said no, no)
I killed my baby but I loved her
I killed my baby but I...

Snowy skies far away still alive
Scars are healing in your mind
In your heart and soul
Oh my Nicole
I'm starting to realise
The fatal secret of my life
Isn't in my control

I said no
I killed my baby but I loved her
I said no, no
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole (I said no)
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole (I said no, no)
I killed my baby but I loved her
I killed my baby but I loved her

It's still haunting me night and day
Oh my Nicole
You took a part of my life away
Oh my Nicole
I relive it everyday
Oh my Nicole
Oh my Nicole

I said no
I killed my baby but I loved her
Oh my Nicole (I said no, no)
I killed my baby but I loved her
I killed my baby but I...
