Nah nothing's concrete yet. The mate I was supposed to be meeting up with is back in Oz (he's like a f**king yo yo) so it could be a while - or I might go solo and he can catch up with me. Either way it won't be for a while yet.

Nah f**k that Contiki shit - might as well just put a bus in my backyard and go sit in it and get pissed.

Where you planning to go Esti?

The tentative plan at the moment is to backpack up through SE Asia, up through India and then jump over to Turkey and up through Europe. Then I've got an uncle not much older than me in Ireland who can hook me up with some work and somewhere to stay.

But plans are still being constantly shuffled around and you'll still have to put up with me for most of next year so don't get too excited yet. :p

Yeah Contiki seems like a very plastic, artificial way of travelling.

Contiki = the west coast eagles of travel.

While we're talking globetrotting, who's been to US and A? I'll be travelling around there next year, probably mainly in the western half and I'm looking for a couple of places which are hits and some warnings about places which are shit. Any takers?

don't know much about east, went to Atlanta (brother lives there) a couple of years ago and did a trip to Disney land in Florida and that was good (im sure there is one on the west coast) didn't do much travelling other than that, can only say stay away from Atlanta (not much to do there) and for that matter stay away from 'Country Folk' :D they is crazy!?

Busabout was a good option Esti for Europe assuming you're planning to hit the main touristy spots like Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin, Rome, etc. You pay for a 6 city pass and a bus comes through every second day. You book your own accommodation and decide how long you want to spend in each city so you don't have that tight schedule like Contiki, all they do is provide the transport from A to B.

Vegas is dirt cheap now BKBP with the American economy going to shit. Apparently the casinos are only about 60% full at weekends and 30% full midweek so you'll get a nice room Sunday-Thursday for around $40. Should be able to get a free upgrade to a deluxe room when checking in, and drinks are free even if you're playing the nickel slots. Just remember to give the waitress a dollar or two each time and she'll make sure you don't go thirsty. :thumbsu:

Burning Man looks wicked and then some Stronz. I dunno if I will still be around at that time of year, but if I am still in the country, hopefully I'll be able to get there. From the website: "Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind." How could you not go and check it out if you had the chance?

I wonder about the compatability of Vegas and an under 21 Dom, so I'll have to scope that out with a few folks who've been in the same predicament before. I'll definitely make a stop there for a few days if they don't treat under 21's like toddlers.

 Sorry mate forgot about that. How far is the Canadian border from where you're working? :p

Avoid LA, the biggest "rubbish tip" I've ever seen in my life. Vegas is a shit-hole if you take away main drags where casinos are. New York is great, has character.

ps. Lot of Yanks think Australia is "near Louisianna". :thumbsu:

Kev, I will one day get to the burning man. I have heard and awesome story about it and the pictures are unbelievable.

I think if you go, you're expected to bring something to the overall scene, otherwise you're just seen as a tourist and that is not well regarded.

Haha no probs, I did consider the idea of border hopping to get a splash of beer, but I have a single entry visa

I have heard that about LA. I'm only passing through there because of that zoo they call LAX.

I keep going back to the website, now I'm really keen on it too. It seems as though the whole point is that you go to be a part of the community and the best way to be part of the community is to give something that everyone can enjoy. That many people all going out of their way to help make everyone else's experience has got to give a pretty special sort of vibe.

All class that man isn't he? Like the tv interview he did after 9/11 saying they deserved it.

He tries to be all charismatic and controversial like Mohammed Ali but I don't think he has the brains to pull it off.
