Nice straw man there big kev. ;)

It isn't what I am saying.

The country folks can't be solely responsible for making the money, and then not losing it you see... Even in the US, they still can't take that bumpkin logic away from you can they? Lol. ;)

The city folk will be badly affected as well... the difference being those that have the higher end skills (mainly in Perth) will have transferable knowledge, education and skills, whereas certain regional people don't have that opportunity.

Oh and by the way, the Dad was one of the first Metallurgists up there at Hamersley Iron back in the day, and they have been using his data to open up the last few sections up there. So us city folk can't be all that bad hey? They certainly don't contribute like country folk. ;) But we should be nice to each other... considering the Dad spent a lot of time up in Dampier... we could well be brothers, brother. ;)

Oh and Rio is losing money hand over fist on basically everything but iron ore and uranium. BHP is doing well. But aside from that, it's only really the goldies that are doing well. The golden ox looks bankrupt, as does FMG.

Geraldton is going to be absolutely decimated over the next few years.

You really think FMG are in the shitter?

No comment. :p

No please, do.

Im deciding whether to re-direct the contents of my portfolio toward blue chip stocks or maintain a fair degree of diversity.

I'm of the belief that Westpac like most shares currently are incredibly unervalued, an effect of negative market sentiment rather than an opinion based on numbers and facts.

I still think Banks have a fair way to go to be honest.

There aren't too many things that I can see at good value at the moment because not everything has been reported yet.

Basically, I already have bought NCM and MTS for the bottom drawer. That's pretty much the extent of it so far. Not sure I'd be entirely happy with buying NCM now though.

Gold producers and consumer staples are probably the way to go. WES perhaps once they clear their enormous debt.

NUF is also something that has always looked good to me, but I've never bought. BKL and IVC are in the same boat.

There's value everywhere Chops, just need to set yourself an amount you're willing to gamble on and the returns will be there.

Im pretty sure Im going to take a punt on Westpac, maybe a little BHP who, of the major players, appears to be the steadiest.

I've also got a couple of little stocks Im willing to take a punt on, hopefully the massive infastructure stimulus packages being offered by Obama's team will see these returns realised mid 2009/10.

Whip MAP into ASX and do a little reading ;)

You in the industry?

Nope. But I do trade for a part time income.

MAP has too much debt.

WBC is probably the better of the banks. BHP is without doubt the better out of the miners... and I have a trade on them currently incidently.

It is time to look for yield though. I think we will see 2800 on the index next year.

Fair enough, Im much the same.

I was a put off a little by MAP's debt, but by November it had raised 1.34 billion for it's first phase of debt refinancing and four years of capital expenditure.

It's one Im keeping an eye, but I dont want to miss the boat.

Cheers for the info Ash. :thumbsu:

Don't know if I could be bothered going in, putting my name down, driving home and then driving back though. What's your mobile number, you can put both our names down then send me a text when I'm near the top of the queue. ;)

I'm off to the cas this Sunday night for the Arsenal Liverpool game but doubt I'll be playing poker. Last time I played drunk I was on a bit of a roll but got kicked out for calling one of the players a princess. Talk about thin skinned!!

They dont allow people to put names in for people who arent actually in the premises. The other night I tried that, and pretended to be a mate when I first walked in (bloke taking names was a newbie) then 10 minutes later going and putting my real name down when they changed who was on the door. Didnt work, and had to find a random to pretend to be ash to get me both tickets...:)

Family shiz.

Doing the double family thing these days, luckily for me they arent too far away anymore.

Going to get sloshed Boxing day with the lads and then chill out before NY.

Your plans Stronz?

Yep rally bash, then probably BBQ somewhere boxing day. Not sure about NY, going to southbound so I'll probably save most of my energies for that.

Are you married pav?

Not quite, one step away though.

Bought my Scum brother a ticket to Southbound, look out for a poor man's Mike Whitney, got the black girls and Pigeon Chest.

He also bowls shit left arm over :thumbsu:

Would not touch them really. Oil and gas engineering firms are going to be hammered over the next little bit.

ESG is worth a look.

This weekend never seemed to end. It was great. Head is still fuzzy though.

What'd you get up to?

Havent bought them for a quick buck, reckon they could become a bluechip stock in my portfolio.

Out with friends Saturday. Couple of interesting things happened.

Christmas party last night, which was interesting, and we ended up at the moon... where upon paying the bill, the waiter guy told us that our mate had thrown up everywhere in the bathroom and clogged up the sink.

That had us laughing for the rest of the night. He got pissed off when we laughed... but what were we supposed to do? :D
