I love the way there were a couple of Australian comments guys who took every opportunity to complain about how the umpiring had singlehandedly sunk us, and how without poor decisions we would have wiped Ghana off the face off the Earth

got the car washed at West Lakes

bought 6 DVD's (The Terminal, Cool Runnings, Borat, Ducks (1), The Matrix* and Knocked up) as well as an Adelaide Triple Triumph pack (which included 97 Prelim**, showdown VII and the 02 Semi) while puying 2 pairs of trackies, and watching Shrek 4 while there

Movie was good, better than 3 but not as good as 1 or 2. May be decent in 3D but Readings was stupid and didn't get it for Avatar. They're missing out on some decent $ atm

*Already had on VCR, but I want to be able to watch it from my TV

** already had it, but I wanted the 02 semi (9 didn't show it, and it was the year before Main Event could show FNF) and never saw Showdown 7, so It would be a decent pack (I lived in Sydney thankyou very much, and that was in the chanel 7 days, where it was that or nothing. Does anyone know, if a speed camera is on the opposite side of the road to which you are driving (Brighton Road in this example), can it still ping you?

I doubt it BACCS. I mean, in theory it could, but it's on that side of the road because that's the side they want to watch.

Camera have to be on the same side, facing the way you're going to ping you. At least in Vic they do.

Yeah, I think they have to be to be held up to scrutiny accuracy wise. Like, when outside a certain range their accuracy can be bought into question. May be total BS though fed to me by mates. Never had a ticket though even if I knew a camera was on the street and I may have been speeding.

Ahk, fair enough. Usually I wouldn't worry like this, but I only received my first speeding ticket 2 weeks ago, and I don't really want another one so soon! I think I'm alright, but you can never be certain these days.

Nah, speed cameras are actually extremely accurate. People think they're not because they think they work the same way as echo sounders, but it's not true.


Not that I'm some expert on speed cameras or anything, it's just that one of the professors I work closely with was one of the people asked to research them recently to see just how accurate they were

Yes they can.

My wife once got pinged doing 68 in a 50 zone (near the Foodland in Henley Beach) when the unmarked car was on the opposite side of the road.

The fixed ones at intersections can't though.

Yeah it did I think it was Thursday or Friday last week. Pretty impressive, looks completely different to the old one.

Checked out the new Woolies in Rundle Mall last night. It's pretty much a two-story supermarket now. Best part is the large number of self serve checkouts.

No doubt the speed cameras can make big errors - mostly due to user incompetency, of course But in terms of people trying to argue the accuracy of their speeding fine because they were only snapped at 7km/h over and the camera snapped them a fair way away, etc, they haven't got a leg to stand on unless the camera itself was held by a police officer and they want to argue the police officer ****ed it up.
