You've never encountered jealousy before in your entire life? Seriously? When women are involved, the 'belief' or 'impression' a man may be under has no credibility what so ever. Nothing in anything youve claimed is actually not explainable under an alternative theory. Example..

Rann strikes up a friendship with a waitress of all people - 'A waitress of all people'. Interesting extrapolation Jo. Waitresses are obviously akin to Hookers.
This friendship transforms into numerous phone calls and 100s of text messages. - Yes. A friendship. How many text messages do you send daily, lets not pretend we live in the stone ages.
The Waitress's marriage falls apart - Which could be entirely due to his own personality defects. Rabid jealousy and insecurity for instance.
The husband spends two years trying to get into contact with Rann.-Signs of obsession? Jealousy?
The husband taps Rann with a magazine - A friendly way of putting a form of criminal assault.
Waitress claims affair- Husband is now charged with assault. Woman claims to want reconcilation. What credibility does she have?


Ive ignored the stuff about Ranns admissions etc, because hes a politician. We all know they manage the media in an attempt to control the light in which issues are portrayed/covered. That in itself doesnt constitute evidence of anything.

See, its your rabid and bordering on blind acceptance of everything Phillips has spouted that makes me wonder about your agenda, because i know you're not stupid enough to be unable to fathom the concept that people can act irrationally. Ive dealt with the jealous boyfriends of girls ive been friends with before. If one of them writes me letters, tries to ring me etc accusing me of something, i tend to not communicate back. Even more so if its a jealous ex. Maybe they should take a swing at me for daring to allow their fragile egos to be hurt.

It seems to me that the only difference we have in opinion is that you think the affair was a fabrication made up after the assualt and I think that the affair actually occurred or was a fabrication of Chantelois well before the assault.

Either way I suppose it'll all out in the court case conveniently timed after the election

If you want evidence of the blokes arrogance, just look at his actions. Anyone who thinks they can assault the head of Government within a state, and get away with it clearly has some issues of arrogance.

I didnt say what i believe his assumptions were, merely that i dont believe its impossible that they were unjustified.

I am very hesitant to take her at word value about it now however, given the circumstances she and her husband find themselves in. There are many interests she would hold in potentially fabricating the story to supposedly confirm his suspicions now, not limited to his pending court case, and the money.

Arrogance and irrationality arent mutually exclusive. They frequently go hand in hand.

BTW, i disagree with you about the choice of weapon. Ive got the strange suspicion that its choosing was actually very clever. You can do a suprising amount of damage with one tightly rolled, yet the initial impression its use has created on most people was humour.

On a completely different topic, I just wanted to say HELL YES - printing out three copies of my thesis ready for submission on friday. My Christ it feels good to get this bloody thing done


No doubt there are still a billion errors in it but there's only so often you can go over the same work over and over and over again.


Now for the fun part - getting to waste almost a 1000 pages of good quality paper from the University printing three copies of it

I think it's fair to say that Phillips clearly thought that Rann & Chantelois were having an affair and that his perception of this probably played a large role in the ending of their marriage. His actions in clobbering Rann with a magazine make this plain.

Whether or not his suspicions have any basis in fact is another matter entirely. It's basically a case of he-said-she-said and nobody outside the two of them will probably ever know the truth.

The reason Ch7 got into trouble was because that they insinuated that his alleged affair with Chantelois compromised his ability to do his job as Premier of the state. If Rann DID sleep with her, then he has lied to the South Australian public and he will be judged accordingly at the ballot box. If she's lying and they never slept together, then Rann is telling the truth and has no case to answer. Who is telling the truth? Your guess is as good as mine. People with Liberal leanings will probably choose to believe her. People with Labor leanings will tend to give Rann the benefit of the doubt. I no longer live in SA, so I really don't care one way or the other.

And you shouldn't read over your own work anyway because you usually miss mistakes since you know what's written there so you read what you think you wrote & easily read past mistakes so you need to get someone else to read through it.

And yeah, I've been blessed because I've had some seriously good proofreaders going over it the whole time. My supervisors have been fine-toothed combing it and my fiancee finished a PhD on a very similar topic around a year ago so she's been fantastic is helping me get all the problems ironed out. Compared to a friend of mine, for whom every single word in her thesis has been written, checked, and finalised entirely by her, I've been really lucky.

You are right though - I think it's after the third time they say you don't notice any more mistakes

It's at the binders today, picking it up tomorrow afternoon, you beauty Just finished burning up the CDs to go with it too. Time to celebrate

Not sure what you’re implying but William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton didn’t leave office as the 42nd president of the United States because he was impeached on a sex scandal. He served his 2 consecutive terms in office and that is the maximum time anyone can be president of the USA.

I know that ...and it's a stupid thing they got happening there. If it were different, their bad ones would be kicked out anyway and the good ones get to stay. I realise it's in their Constitution but imagine if JFK had been around longer than he was and was then ousted because of it after 8 years. Getting rid of someone who is outstanding at his job because of a "tenure" issue does not sit well with me.

Thank goodness for Foxtel's winter Olympic coverage - they actually show LIVE events.

I can't believe Channel 9 chose to continue the Today show instead of showing Torah Bright's qualification run in the Ladies Halfpipe.

For the record Bright has qualified for the final in 1st place with a score of 45.8! Holly Crawford was pipped for direct qualification, finishing 7th with a score of 39.5 (she will lead the semi-finals though, so we could have 2 Aussies in the final woohoo!)
