Tonight I decided to finally lug my empty cans/bottles to the 24 hour redemption machines at Hollywood Plaza only to find they're 'closed for maintenance'
Have they got those new vending like machines in place yet?

I learnt one thing today - Sydney is big, very big.

Also, my passionate hatred of Sydney Airport continues - today they close the AirportLink train line (and of course they wait until we're pretty much on the platform to tell you to go back up and hop on a bus), then you're herded onto buses not designed for luggage, which made for a very uncomfortable ride to the hole that is Central Station (and that station really is a hole).

Seriously Adelaide's public transport system craps all over Sydney, and that's saying something!

At least my hotel (Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour) is fantastic!

My experiences in Syderney were different, I spent time in Nth sydney and Glebe, i was a hop(bus)skip(train) and jump(Ferry) from anywhere i needed to go all with the one 20 buck unlimited rides ticket good for a week! I loved it(i never went out west so i can't comment)
Last year I was catching trains from Gawler to the city, nearest train station from where i was in Gawler was a 30 minute walk(no buses) so to be in Currie street by 830 i had to catch a 7 20 express which means i was leaving house at 6 45.Its sheer embarrasement to adelaide that train line, They had better lines in Nagasaki in the 1800's, fair dinkum

Train line is being updated right at the moment and should be completely redone by the middle of next year so at least they are doing something about it. Its not great but its not awful like your suggesting either. Train from Gawler is way better than getting a bus or driving into the city.

Considering the cost of petrol, the price of car parking and the maintance required in maintaining a motor vehicle capable of doing that work, I would agree, but that still doesn't excuse the fact of how antiquated that line had become before the upgrade.

I'm heading up to Sydney this weekend. I've been there before but I've never gone to either platform at the airport.

And was wondering where the entrances to the platform are from T2 (the old Ansett terminal)

If there is none, how else can I get down there?
