Dear one with no petrol,

Unfortuantly due to cirmustances out of our control we can not take responsibilty for your inconvience. We trust next time you'll fit factory standard wheels and tyers, use GMH approved petrol , drive in a manner consistent with responible use of a GMH vehicle, service your car at GMH authorised parts fitter premises and fill up everytime the speedometer says 86km to go.

I hope you find this helpful, happy motoring and thank you for choosing GMH.

I watched this crow today get attacked by 20 sparrows and spoggies and 2 piping shrikes...

Some what an Omen.

Dear Holden,

No pressure, but any time you're ready feel free to design and build for use in your vehicles A ****ING PETROL GAUGE THAT WORKS YOU BUNCH OF ****NUTS.

Yours sincerely,
The guy sitting in his car which just ran out of petrol on the way to the petrol station when he still had 85 km to drive.

Was driving mine today showing 50kays left. Filled up the tank and it only took 69L in the 75 Ltre tank. About spot on. Was a bit nervous for a second there when the aircon pump kicked in at the lights, thought it was a death rattle.

I see the speed limits are being dropped on country roads to 100 km/h and **** me sideways look at how quick they are to implement these changes when there's money in it for them.

100 on the Sturt Highway? Surely they're extracting the urine. You can do 130 on that road no trouble at all. Can't say I have that much intention of following these new regulations .

Out Roseworthy way you have some of the best food producing lands on the whole planet. Some of the best managed as well.

Now they are selling land once that produced food in lots for houses "dirt cheap' makes it kinda ironic. We are in a food crisis and one we will not come out of without mass reduction in the worlds population.

Oh they say that we have a lack of skilled builders and tradesmen and that drives up costs......with all the other contributing publicised factors. They say becuase of the mines and all that crap we send to China and because of the last liberal goverements cut backs to education that created fewer tradies...thats what they say..

global warming is in fact a lie to, so others say . They say we are in a cooling phase.

On another board they say things about a creed and leaving no stone unturned to win...never said if they mean winning now or losing now to win later?

You use less petrol travelling at 100 instead of 110...you lose very little time as well...Your car requires less maintence, your tyers last longer.
Only negative would be putting up with ********s inpatient to pass you.

Mark Skaife did an extrodianary brilliant and insightful story on speed limits a year or so ago. Australia doesn't have the quality of roads to have a higher speed limit, nor are we drivers educated enough to handle higher speed limits. In fact considering these two factors we probably have too high of a speed limit now.

So the question needs to be asked: why aren't our roads good enough for limits that have deemed adequate for the last however many years?

And also why is driver training so insufficient?
For example, I recently got my R-date motorcycle licence and the course they made you do was entirely low-speed stuff. So why am I now judged able to handle a motorcycle at 100/110 km/h? If anyone has ridden a motorcycle at 80 along the freeway or Port River expressway, having people roadrage you and trucks swerving around you is bloody frightening. I ended up choosing to put my safety above the law and sit on the same speed everyone else was doing.

i haven't seen a list of roads that will be affected by this, but i'd hope the main "A" roads will not be affected.

sturt highway upto Nuriootpa could have a speed limit of 150 without any issues at all!

if 110km/h is too quick for you, give your license up

FFS this state shits me...

edit - here are the roads that will have their limits changed

So the question needs to be asked: why aren't our roads good enough for limits that have deemed adequate for the last however many years?

Geographical and population reasons. In Germany they are quite a confined lot with 60 million people in an Area maybe the size of South Australia. The taxes and the priority is there for the outlay of funds to maintain what roads they have at the level they do. In fact since they introduced legislation and spend the coin on the autobahn's, the road toll has come down dramaticly, yet road use has risen

And also why is driver training so insufficient?
Good Question.

Well I know that when you get your b double license you don't need to do any training in a road train to get you license for a road train, I know that driving a b double is completly different skill to driving a road train.

Why would this be?

Thiele highway from Williston is a nasty bit of road, probably adequate governance dropping that. The road between Auburn and Gawler is ok north of Tarlee but not south. All the other sections proposed are skinny and bumpy roads mainly.

Fair call.

Makes sense.

i disagree regarding the thiele highway. i use that road very regularly, the section to roseworthy road is dodgy, but the rest is highway standard

Fix the roads, don't change the speed limits. This is a ridiculous decision designed to raise more money. As someone who travels frequently this is stupid. Why not make it 60? Where do we stop?

Its a trade off betwen convenience and death. The changing from 60 to 50 has reduced accidents dramatically as will this move. Yes there will be more revenue but only from those who break the law, so I would suggest that's better than getting it in ways that will distort economic activity for example.

But what im saying is why stop at 100 why not make it 75. Then we will all be really safe, save lots of fuel and make lots of money.
Accidents and fatalities have been reducing steadily over time anyway. By leaving some roads at 110 will only make for more confusion.
The government should be looking at the cause of the problem if its speeding, well people are always going to speed whether its 100 or 110 (hit them with massive fines), if its the roads well fix them.
I don't fancy a dead on with a car at 110 or 100, there wont be much left at either speed. Reducing the speed limit is a cop out. Reminds me of the big daddy solution of bed wetting just put newspaper on it to soak it up.

I can show you some damn dangerous roads, they may seem ok in a car but in a truck they are so much worse.

Ok. Would you be willing to increase your taxes by about 200%?

How is it the worst Corkey I have ever got, was from basketball?

Oh thats right, someone decided to block me by sticking his knee into my driver becuase he was too slow and let me in the key. Dirty bastard.

Devistated I cant play netty tonight.

haha, basketball corks can be epic.

2nd possession of the game I got one the same way as you mentioned, then next possession as I try to hobble it off I draw a charge and cop a knee right in the same spot and limp for the next week.
