or - start watching it half an hour after it starts, but rewinded to the start, that way you can flick through the ads

I prefer being able to watch it completely uninterrupted by ads - without even having to reach for the remote & fast forwarding (or skipping) past the ads.

Doesn't take long to do the processing and I can usually multi-task on something else at the same time (eg posting on BigFooty while it's uploading/downloading).

Downloaded versions inevitably suffer from having lower picture quality than the original broadcast. It's not hard to tell the difference.

Recording is legal, because it's for personal use only.

Actually, downloading isn't illegal (as far as I know). It's the uploading side of things which is what they usually target, as these are the people who are responsible for unlicensed public distribution of the product.

Or just record it on IQ (if you have it). Wait until it's been going for 30 minutes or so, and then start from the beginning, skipping through the ads when they come on.

I don't have an IQ (or Foxtel), but my Topfield has the same capability.

Ok off the top I am definately not counting my chickens before they hatch here.. but I'm currently a Crows Silver member, do I upgrade to Gold (deadline is tomorrow!) to guarantee a GF ticket if the Crows make it. It's $120, but I don't really see any other way of obtaining a GF ticket if we make it, as I don't think you have much of a chance as a silver member, and I'm not betting on winning any competitions anytime soon.

you certainly have other options to get a GF ticket should be make it, but they are far more expensive than this way

i have a workmate that goes to the GF every year, usually buys the ticket on the day from scalpers, and usually for 4-5 times what they are worth.

Really? I haven't actually done any research I just assumed that given the packages are about 1200 with flights an accommodation then a ticket from someone would be about half that... May have to reassess this theory next year after doing some research in the last week of September

if you leave it until the saturday morning, and hang around federation square, you should be able to find someone selling. i've seen people walking around with signs with a price they are willing to pay

I don't blame the government, there is nothing else they could do. The question is what do they do now.

I wonder if there has ever been any thought given to a State run mine. We sell off all these assets like Power and Forests, why not get one back?

The mine could be run by the public sector with out the need for concern of generating a profit required by shareholders.

Its not their fault it didn't go ahead. But it is their fault for putting the expansion into their budget estimates. For quite some time BHP has been saying that the project will be delayed if the timing of it all isn't right.

Why Snelling should be held to account...

Remember the razor gang? OMG parks, OMG keith hospital & all that jazz. PS cuts... All this to put us back in the black by 2012-13.... And all of these forecasts are based on unrealistic GST collections & the Olympic Dan expasion going ahead. Snelling is now going to have to completely reshape the budget, cut projects and lay off large numbers of Public servants. All that whilst already having the highest state taxes in Australia.
