Where in Old Adelaide town could I get corned beef hash?

Also on the topic of food, a Greek friend of mine had a birthday over the weekend, and their family had us all over for a lamb on a spit, with all the Greek spices. Best thing I've ever eaten hands down :thumbsu: I think I'm still full two days later, hahaha.

THIS! The best thing about being of Greek heritage. Every Easter/Christmas and sometimes even for a pre-wedding party/birthday/christening, my uncle will whack a lamb on the spit. Heavenly.

For those interested, Ikonic Kitchen on Henley Beach Road does lamb and pork on the spit every Sunday from 1pm. They're not whole ones, just the rolls but **** me they still taste amazing.

Still astounds me that you can spend millions autotuning a crap song when you can just write this in your studio on the fly.

Why would you?

Limba cu masline looks just as appealing to me...

That looks healthy hey..

But corned beef hash was a meal my folks would cook weekly and i miss it...

same as lamb chops, mashed potatoe and mushy peas and chips...

Went out to the Salisbury North Football Club for lunch today. Excellent place for a meal - fairly cheap (majority of meals $10/$12) plus a very good soup/salad/vegetable bar. Also walking distance from my place so it's great I can walk somewhere for an excellent meal.

Only drawback is they don't have EFTPOS so you'll need to remember to come with cash.

Haven't been there in probably a year but they were always good :thumbsu: Para Hills Community Club is the best one I've ever been to though, they win the awards every single year for a reason. Add Parafield Gardens Community Club to the list and we've got some damn good cheap pub meals in the north :)

Do they really not have an AFL machine now though? Seems like death for a club with Pokies.

I've been to the Para Hills club several times, and each time I've left disappointed. Might be with their big reputation I go there expecting them to deliver and more often than not they don't.

AFL machine? They do have a generic ATM, but save yourself the $2-$2.50 in ATM fees and stop off at a fee-free ATM on the way.

What did you order from there? Like any other club they have their weak dishes, but on the whole I've always found they do very nice food and their salad/soup bar is very nice.

First couple of trips I got their tandoori chicken (which they no longer offer). From memory, it was quite average.

Last trip I got their mango chicken, which was a chicken drumstick in a dubious mango sauce and a tiny portion of rice.

Maybe I should stick to the standard chicken schnitzel - that they seem to do alright.

After reading my posts on here, I think I'm starting to sound like these guys - just need to cross my legs and put on a camp accent :D

Yeah, those are two of their worst meals. As you say, the Tandoori chicken is not on the menu anymore. I have a general rule of thumb - never order Indian food unless the restaurant is actually an Indian restaurant

Think a friend of mine got leek patties once as well and said they weren't very nice. Para Hills should stop trying to pretend they're anything more than just another community pub :D For standard pub grub they're very nice. Their battered fish is just about the best battered fish I've ordered.

On the down side, ordering a roast at lunch time from there is not worth the price of admission. You get about three slices and a potato for the $10.90 or whatever it costs  Add in the salad bar and it's actually a decent sized meal but all the other meals are so generous that the roast just seems like a let-down by comparison.

we do the salisbury north footy club for lunch on fridays generally, can't think of too many bad meals i've had there. although its very hard to screw up a schnitzel!

That should be extended to most types of Asian food. The worst satay chicken I've had was the one time it was available at Grand Central (and it's the only bad dish I've ever had there). Having said that, the Gawler Arms does a reasonable job of their satay chicken, though having it with rice and chips is a little odd.

Speaking of which, the Gawler Arms, while a little pricey, is another excellent hotel in terms of food. As their meals include soup, salad, vegetable and dessert bars, it somewhat reminds me of a similar, but smaller set up to Sizzler (without the cheesy bread).

Oh but Caffe Primo can, and have (several occaisons at the Tea Tree Plaza one where the chicken schnitzel has come out half raw), but then you don't go to Caffe Primo and expect quality food or service (I'm surprised they're still operating given how poor a reputation they have these days).

the playford tavern is another in the north that probably has a pretty harsh reputation (based on location only), but always does a top notch meal
