Why will your Senate vote do shit? If you're voting Labor in the Reps, wouldn't it make sense to also vote for them in the Senate to try to stop Abbott getting carte blanche for his stone-age "policies"

Who employs employees?

and without employees there would be no business..

I understand your point re business - even Karl Marx recognized the unstoppable wealth-creating power of capitalism and said that capitalism was the greatest driving force in history, however, there needs to be a balance between that labour and capital rather than business exploiting the other.

I'm of the belief that I want a conscious in parliament and I don't care who it is or how I get it.

There's no realistic option in the House of Reps, so I'm going Kate Ellis just to try and hinder that moron Abbott getting in.
In the Senate though, there are that many viable conscious' that I refuse to vote Labor or Liberal no matter what. Greens will get 1 seat, Xenophobe will get another. All in all, there will be enough greens/independents around the country to hinder any idiotic Labor or Liberal policies. So with the balance of power being in a 3rd party. I really view the Senate vote as kinda pointless. I'm already getting what I desire; a conscious.

Are you allowed to bring paper into the booth? Or are you intending to memorise it?

Only how to vote cards

Sort of random topic - Noticed earlier in this thread, there's a lot of SA Country Fire Service chatter, in specifically, notifications of fires etc. Just wondering, are there any members of the CFS on this forum?

1 or 2 posters said they were in the black saturday thread

Don't be so certain Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young will retain her senate seat in SA. Present pre-polling indicates Liberal and Labor winning 2 each, Nick Xenophon 1, with the final spot between Greens and a third Liberal candidate for the seat. Xenophon has placed both Liberal and Labor ahead of the Greens in his preferences, meaning they may fall short of the quota.

Good, good... I might have to seek these people out for firey chatter. I've been volunteering for six years now, in the CFS. Never looked back on joining. Currently leading a bit of a recruitment drive for fire fighters in my area, as we're pretty low on members.... So, any of you people who live down south, and want to get involved, it's a great service! :)

All I know is I wont be voting for Cory Bernadi in the senate. The man is dumber then a plank of wood!

He has already secured spot 73 on my senate ticket - fellow bottom rungers will be that Rise Up party (the party run by the guy that said Black Saturday was a punishment from God), and Australian Christians.

I read somewhere Family First may be in the running for the sixth seat.

Good God, could you imagine both Bob Day and Cory Bernadi in the Senate

Regardless of the party someone votes for I think we should look to improve standards in parliament and ball bags like cory bernadi is well below the standard required!

Bob Day was a candidate for my electorate two elections ago, I still have his stationary! Yes Family First are a possible chance at our 6th senate spot. Depends on how much Nick Xenophon gets in his primary vote. Nick Xenophon is running two candidates, himself and a staffer "Stirling Griff". The Greens placed Xenophon before Family First but Stirling Griff behind Family First. The irony is a vote for the Greens, could be a vote for Family First if people don't vote under the line. The minutia of senate voting. :)

If people are interested ... here is a link to the preferences in the SA Senate.

Oh how could we forget his Liberal candidacy for Makin in 2007. It was pure comical.

The Libs were never going to win that seat even if Trish 'Will somebody PLEASE think of the children' Draper didn't retire, but he made sure it was a very easy win for Tony Zappia.
