The poms have always known how to make great comedies and they still do. They just do it so much better than the yanks (let alone the abysmal Australian offerings). Almost all the comedies in my DVD collection are BBC sitcoms.Showing my age here, but personally I prefer the old British comedies like Are You Being Served? and Fawlty Towers; stuff of that era. That's the kind of thing I find funny.
For those who like Friends, I recommend watching "Coupling". It's what Friends could/should have been - and unlike the US offering it's actually funny.
Then there's Men Behaving Badly, which is absolutely brilliant.
Of the older series, I recommend "Man About the House" and "Robin's Nest". On the other hand, "George & Mildred" was the less-funny spin off of "Man About the House".
For those with a political bent, you'll never find anything better than Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
