And the umpire that bounced the ball to Cousins! **** the lot of them.

Pretty certain it was Judd.

And yes I'm still nowhere near over that.

But to play devil's advocate Libba's point, Colbert's mark ...

Luck does go both ways despite it not feeling like it.

Dont you just hate it when you buy a drink at a bar, walk about a metre, then somone knocks it out your hand?! Happened to me last night at the Ed, sooo frustrating and pretty much forced me to pay double for the drink getting another one.:(

Yep, it happens nearly every week at the Duke.

I'll concede Leigh Colbert's mark. Very unlucky.

But Libba's point? I'll take the word of a goal umpire standing directly under the flight of the footy over toothless Bulldogs fans sitting 50 metres away on the HFF every day of the week.

I'd also back the umpire's view over the top of Libba himself, who was dry-humping his teammates miles away from the goalpost as well.

I'm soooooo sick of hearing about the bloody Pandas! "Biggest event ever for Adelaide, bigger than the Grand Prix, bigger than Lance Armstrong & the Tour Down Under" ummm, yep :thumbsu::rolleyes:
Seriously, they're having a parade and "welcoming party" in Rundle Mall??? THEY'RE BLOODY PANDAS FFS!

Panda's are adorable though

As much as it's good the conjoined twins survived....there's thousands of people being murdered daily and dieing due to things beyond their controll that we hear nothing about.

I think the pandas are great but it is kind of embarassing that we're making such a big fuss out of it. Once again putting our small-town mentality on display :(

Personally I just love the irony of bringing a couple of animals designed to live in frozen temperatures into this bloody oven of a city. I'm sure Funi and Wang Wang will really appreciate our first 50 degree day they're predicting will hit by the end of the year :D

Ah good I'm not the only one that thinks the panda thing is going completely OTT - for crying out loud they even had a float in the pageant. I do have alternate names I use for the pandas but if I say them on here I'll probably cop a card :D

I agree, this whole panda thing is a load of overblown tripe. I'm an animal lover but not only has this cost ridiculous amounts of tax payer money, but the construction of the enclosure has caused considerable distress to some of the other animals at the zoo. Pandas aren't even interesting; they are among the most dull animals on the planet. Oooh they look cute . Bring back the polar bears!

The only real benefit out of this is the advertising it will give SA back in China.

Changing the topic, am I the only one on here who is worried about this ETS being introduced? Ignoring what Mel and Kochie say on Sunrise and what Al Gore is preaching (FACT - he owns shares in carbon trading companies), the evidence that man-made climate change exists is shallower than an episode of Glee. If this ETS comes in, it could absolutely destroy our economy and not only skyrocket energy prices, but also send unemployment through the roof. I'm not trying to preach my political views, but I'm pretty worried about this thing - especially about what it will do for my job prospects.

I think there was a economic report that said the return from the pandas will be huge. I have no doubt they will bring people to this state. Just to see a panda. Its a good investment for the state, we should all thank Downer for that (...well just this once)

The whole point of an ETS is deter people from using high carbon products/services. Its an incentive system. In essence, things that pollute will become more expensive. But the outcome of this is it encourages people and companies to pollute less. All tax raised will either subsidise new renewable/sustainable energy, or be used to subsidse the taxpayers new increase in power costs (ie tax cuts in other areas)

You should only be afraid if you work for a high polluting company, or own shares in a coal mining company. btw I think Europe has a smaller scale ETS, but it failed because of political bickering, with to many credits issued, therefore making them almost worthless. Which basically meant it cost very little to pollute, so the incentive to cut emissions was deminished.

Realistically, the government wouldn't fork out millions of dollars if they didn't feel the money they'd get back from additional tourism and more patronage of the zoo would cover the costs, and presumably make some money too. Meanwhile, all of that money is going back into our economy.

If you government could throw ten million away to generate ten million in spending in our own local economy they'd do it every time. The pandas will be great for the state, I have no issue with that. What I don't like is the fact that they've been forced down our throats to the point where they've only just arrived, are not even viewable by the public yet, and already I'm sick of them. The Australian market is extremely fickle, and there is only a very small margin between an appropriate amount of marketing and turning the public completely against something. In a culture where we all love to "go against the grain" so much that often a supposed "minority" view is held by the majority of people, the panda pushers would want to be very careful that the public in Adelaide doesn't get so fed up with Pandamania that they abstain from viewing them.

Even half of the current hype and hysteria put over the airwaves and TV and newspapers would be too much in my opinion. Everyone knew they were coming, everyone knows when they came, everyone knows when they'll be viewable. Let it rest for a while.

As for the ETS, I'm absolutely no expert so I could be totally off the mark here, but being that we're going to have to wean ourselves off the forms of energy that create the emission problems we're having now anyway, surely it's better to have it occur slowly and in a managed fashion than wait until supplies start to dip below the demand and then let the free market sort things out.
