Wondering what some peoples thoughts are, those in particular who like to bash the Aussie cricket team, in relation to Bernard Tomic's little outburst......

I'm with you, w***er, you elect to play in the tournament, you play the games your set. It's the equivalent of Dokic having a cry when she drew Hingis or someone in the first round.

Having said that Australian Tennis seems to be a particularly fertile breeding ground for w***ers.

For a guy who narrowly avoided a life ban last year it doesn't appear he has learnt his lessons. Having said that, his Dad sounds like another Damir Dokic - lets hope he doesn't ruin Bernard's life like Damir has done to Jelena (though I don't think Jelena's coach is doing her any favors either).

Errr?

Sure you're not thinking of Klein?

FWIW I don't really disagree with him, as a matter of practice they should start the main game earlier and always play the men's game first.

Good lesson on why not to speak to the media whilst you're pissed off/shattered.

Has anyone one been going to the Tour Down Under at all?

I usually get to one or two stages each year, well since its grown into a bigger event, and went down to Unley and then up to Stirling this afternoon.

Was great fun :thumbsu: Managed to score Jack Bobridge's drink bottle too :D

Went on Sunday Evening, may go again this Sunday.

In other news **** I'm glad the bloke charged with murdering Carly Ryan has been found guilty. Very weary of following cases in the media but this guy just sounded peverse.

Totally agree with you there jo172. Hopfully the poor girl can now RIP, instead of the case being spoken about every day.

Going to go to the TDU on Sunday. I work (Which stops me from going to stages during the week) in Victoria Square and have been down to the Tour Village a few times. Scored Cadel Evans autograph which I'm pretty happy about (Also some SANTOS gear ;)). No sign of the great Lance though. One would think that he uses a different enterance to the Tour Village/Hilton Hotel unfortunately.

I agree! Glad it was guilty of murder, not manslaughter as well! Carly was one of my friends close friends so I'm glad for her, as well as the rest of Carly's friends and family, that it's finally over and they can move on with their lives while Carly can finally rest in peace...

Also - Bernard Tomic needs to drink a cup of cement and harden the hell up! "to make a 17 year old boy play until that late is ridiculous". Go talk to Lleyton Hewitt and ask what it's like to play until 4.30am! Why would the people scheduling the draw bow down to a 17 year old, 280+ ranked, kid's requests?? Maybe the guy he was playing against requested a night name? And for him to say "I would've won if it was during the day" was so bloody arrogant! The little bit of respect I had for him, is now gone and from now on in tournaments, I'll be cheering for his opposition. Maybe someone should inform him that the final of the Australian Open is also played at night...

I've been doing some volunteer work for the TDU and have since stumbled across Lance's secret entrance to the Hilton :D

Probably the best way to see him though his when he's racing. Sure he's going by pretty fast but at least he's close!

Ohh very sneaky indeed, hah. Is it through the markets or something ?

I did manage to see him close up last year during a couple of stages. The highlight of the tour for me in 2009 was meeting the Prime Minster at the Mawson Lakes stage ;)

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Tomic

He was involved in serious controversy in the Australia F12 tournament in December. He defeated fellow Australian James O'Brien 6-2, 6-1 in the first round. He met another Australian, Marinko Matosevic, in the second round. Tomic lost the first set 2-6 and when he was down 1-3 in the second set, Tomic walked off the court. In March 2009, the ITF suspended Tomic from playing ITF professional tournaments for a month.

While he ended up with a 1 month suspension, I read somewhere the maximun penalty he could have faced was life.

The comments he made last night just add to his immaturity - playing until 1am oh diddums!

This is UNBELIVEABLE

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Tomic
Hewitt's manager David Drysdale stated:
Ivan (Gutierrez, Hewitt's physio) went over to Bernard's trainer at the time, Rudy (Sopko) and said 'Is Bernard here to hit?'. Rudy knew nothing of it but said 'Look, Bernard's looking for a practice partner and I think Bernard would like to do it', but then the agent came in and said, 'No, he's not hitting with Lleyton, Lleyton's not good enough'. They were his words: 'Lleyton's not good enough'."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Tomic#cite_note-10

What a disrespectful little sh*t! A former number 1 is "not good enough"?? WHAT THE HELL?!?! Tomic isn't even good to to qualify for the Australian Open - he came in through a wild card!
No respect for Tomic anymore - definitely supporting his opposition from now on!

Hahaha Bernard is such a knob. Its time somebody teached him something called respect. Btw didn't he look up to Lleyton back when he was playing in the juniors?

Its such a disappointment that Bernard's like this

Why are tennis players such knobs?

My theories generally revolve around your knobhood more likely to increase the more individual the sport since you don't have teammates to rely on/keep your ego in check. It's really you against the world. I've noticed similar phenomenons with Athletes (Jana Pittman anyone?), cyclists, golfers and cricket players (the most individual of team sports.)

Where did he (in the first person) actually say it, I mean, him, not his agent or his father or his trainer or anyone else say it, but where did Bernard actually say he was no good?

You’ve grabbed something from Wikipedia – fantastic bit of referencing there, a ton of credibility for truthfulness and honesty with that site. Not.

And in regards to being an arrogant **** who proclaimed he would have beaten Marin Cilic said “I think I should have won” – that’s not arrogance, that confidence. And heaven forbid any 17 year old to have some confidence in his own ability.

Plus, what other professional sport starts a game at
10:20pm at night? NBA? no, AFL no effing way – none, there is no other professional sporting organizations that treats there player such little thought or importance.

He had every right to whine about playing that late and so did Lleyton or any other player put in that situation.

I agree with your basic sentiments re: starting times but he knew what he was getting into when he entered the tournament.

Entering something, knowing the rules in advance and only whining about them after they **** you over is poor form.

So what’s he supposed to do about it? Shut up and just let them knob jockey get away with treating the most important commodity like shit?

No one would take any notice of him before the event, just as no one from Tennis Australia would listen to Lleyton when he would whinge about the pace of the courts 3 or 4 months before the even – until he blasted them after a loss one year. Then they took notice. That was the right place and the right time.
