What a joke the NRL has become. This weekend is officially "Marvel Superhero round" with clubs allowing a multinational to spawn their products all over their jerseys is a shameless display of marketing to sell more merch to kids.

How would we feel if we made it to 8th with Geelong/Adelaide 2 points below us with better percentages? It's be hard to feel too good when you consider their match was abandoned due to such terrible circumstances and had things been different and the game go on, two more points to one of those teams...

It's a long way out, but S2F's post above got me thinking.

You can only make the finals with the season as it is. If everyone else happens to be shit in a year, you don't get an asterisk.

I think you missed the main point? The game that was abandoned due to the tragic death of Phil Walsh. Had it gone ahead, one team probably would have got 4 points instead of just 2.
I might well be missing the point then - it was devastating and is horrible and yes, in that scenario one probably would've finished above us, but I don't think many people will be dwelling on it because as I said, you can only play the season dealt, whether it's the death of a coach or Essendon being booted from finals or whatever other strange circumstances there are.

Yeah, or we could find ourselves out of the eight by two points because Adelaide or Geelong got two points they wouldn't have had they played the game. And they only have better percentage than us is because one of them didn't lose any percentage by losing the game.

You say "two more points to one of those teams..."
I say "two less points to one of those teams..."

Works both ways.

Basically what it is at the moment. We're in 10th on 36 but both Adelaide and Geelong are just above us on 38 taking up spots 8 and 9. If they had played, we could have been in at least 9th spot by now

Hi guys, sorry for the intrusion.

I assume some of you have seen this before, I stumbled onto this on YouTube and got a laugh out of it. Enjoy!

Yes, funny indeed. Sounds like you guys had a bit of illness running throught team this weekend? How are you feeling about the trip to Spotless this weekend?

Edit: Probably should save this for the preview thread.

I'd have to say GWS will win. Each time we've played your mob, you push us and this time, I'm not sure the Bombers can hold you off; especially given current form.

For Essendon to have any chance, it all boils down to team selection. We've got a number of senior guys ready to put their hands up, not all are necessarily the right choice either. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.

What are your thoughts mate?

A must win for us, if we are any chance of finals. Therefore, we'll come out pretty slow and without composure. We don't do well in pressure games. Hope we can turn this around and come out firing.

Coniglio was out at my work this morning as part of his role as an AFL ambassador for multiculturalism. He spoke really well to a crowd that didn't know much about him or AFL.

He told of his family and Italian heritage and that his Nonna who can barely speak English still encourages him to play soccer as she worries about him being hurt.

He also spoke of a typical week throughout the season and pointed out that part of their training involves yoga and pilates, which I found interesting.

They are also set aside a 4 hour study block away from the club, in which they are strongly encouraged to undertake some TAFE or Uni study.

Cogs came across as an upstanding young man and all the best to him for the future!
