I don't think it's too fair to say they don't work when you haven't and aren't willing to try though.

Edit - that wasn't meant to come off as scathing or rude as it sounded! Was just surprised after three years together you guys wouldn't even consider it and that you have such negative opinions of LDRs.
We spoke about it because she applied for some over seas for a year uni thing. We both agreed that because of the distance we would get lonely. And due to that, eventually one of us would probably cheat on the other. Or at least go to cheat because it would be too hard being apart for so long. Which would lead to the break up. So we decided it'd be best not to try long distance.

No offense taken. I didnt really explain my position well tbh

Fair enough. Only a year though and she'd be back - you don't think either of you could stay loyal/in a relationship for that long? Hypothetical of course.

If it was say, 3 months, easy. A year is a long, long time though. I could try, probably go 7-8 months before a situation where the thought of cheating would cross my mind and that would drive me crazy because I don't think I am the type of person that would.

If she came back depending on how much we both had changed then we would try things again maybe
