Hi guys just a quick query. My employer has asked me to take unpaid leave after giving me half a days notice. I have been told to take leave from now through to January 19 which is around 5 weeks unpaid leave after my 3 weeks annual leave is deducted. Can anyone shed some light on the legalities of this. Thanks for any help in advance.
I wish my boss would let me do this.

I'm not expert, but your boss either thinks you've worked hard all year and deserve an extended break before welcoming you back in January, OR, your about to get the arse and should probably start looking for a new job.

Can you specify the industry and sub-industry you are in and if you are covered by a union or have an individual salary agreement? Also, are you full time or not?

Typically, some industries allow for shut-down over christmas and new years when the business is not operational during this period, they typically direct you to take annual leave, I don't think in a normal awards it is allowable to force people to take unpaid leave.

If you think you are being boned you can take it up with the Fairwork ombudsman.

Sounds like Ben's company is hurting if they are 'encouraging' him to take unpaid leave.

Might not have a company to come back to Benny boy..

Might be asking him to take unpaid leave if he is taking all of his paid leave beforehand.

NORTH! 2016,2017,2018.
It was crazy. A few guys at a pub I was in were picking up hail stones a bit bigger than golf balls and putting them in their beers. The front window of the bus I took home had cracks all over it. The best part was getting home and realising I left the bedroom window of the apartment open. Carpet and mattress saturated and only got power back an hour ago.

Haven't heard from my best mate jlind78...with any luck he got washed down the river and out to sea

Glad you are ok, even with the wet carpet and mattress. Good to have the power back on too. Looked awful on the news and some videos. #praythatjlind78knowshowtoswim ......

You managed to capture my good side!!!

I'm actually 5'1 and 169kg's.

Spent yesterday cleaning up all the mess around the house. No broken windows and car parked safely under the house. Some friends still don't have power.

Any YouTube experts - maybe giantroo ? - who can help me, I'd be grateful.

Our eight year old loves watching YouTube videos about toys and games. But when he opens the app, their suggested videos that appear down the page are getting into what looks like soft porn. (Suspect his browsing history for "Hot Wheels" has created a false impression.) He's great at telling us but it would be better if we could make it stop appearing. Ideas welcome.

Jump into the options and look for something along the lines of Clear all Search history and Pause all Search history.

Click them in that order.

Not much you can do to disable it entirely unfortunately.

Maybe turn on safe search filtering
