I recorded it. Just started it now

Its kinda shit tho
It's meh in a sense its for TV but it gives an insight into how the coaches really get the players going. I rate it better than the NRL's attempt at it.

Ben dixon though, try hard

Yep. After a trip to the emergency room, my newly-found immunologist explained that you have to get bitten once (at which time you don't have any side-effects of having been bitten) and the tick leaves some kind of protein in your system which stays dormant almost. That lays there until you get bitten again (however many months or years later) by another tick and when that protein gets into your system the second time, in some crazy chemical reaction it causes anaphylaxis to occur - if you have that predisposition to anaphylactic reactions to tick bites that is; my mum has been bitten by ticks dozens of times and she's never had a single thing come of it.

Pretty fascinating/scary thing to enter my life.

Where did you get bitten? As in where were you, not where was the bite on your body.
So by the sounds of it... You're safe until another tick bites you? Then what? You have a reaction then it's... Okay until the next bite then a reaction again?
Does every single tick bite release that 'protein' then? And whatever else that tick had? (Lyme disease etc.) or do you need a second bite to trigger the reaction and potential disease (like Lyme) every single time.

well i need to thank you for early to mid 90's NBA not so much now though

Yeah I can't watch NBA anymore. Love college bball though. NBA has been bad since the earlier 2000's they just cater the rules to 1 on 1. Why not just have a 1 on 1 league?

I'm not entirely sure where I got bitten but I suspect at home in lower north shore. I suspect I got it at home as it's near the water and bush, and mum had had plenty of ticks there.

Once I was bitten the first time and given I have a predisposition for anaphylaxis, I am now vulnerable from then on to any tick bite.

The tick only injects you with something if it has been disturbed - like if you scratch it off you or pull it off with tweezers. If I see one on me I could hypothetically just let it sit there and take what it wants until it fills itself up and falls off. Mum can pull them off or tweezer them off her but I can't risk that. Thankfully been given this antifreeze stuff - I believe its actually just wart off from the chemist - that you can apply to the tick if you notice one on you that kills it while it doesn't inject anything into you. It freezes it to death andnothing gets in your system. That and an epipen are pretty important now for me, though I don't carry themon me as much as I probably should.

So when I got the one that I had to go to hospital for, I just felt something itchy on my head. Naturally I scratched it not knowing what it was or thinking it could harm me. I looked at my fingers and saw it was a tick and then like two minutes later the anaphylactic symptoms started.

I'm not really sure about the Lyme disease aspect of ticks unfortunately. If you're really worried you should talk to an immunologist. I can give you my one's name if you want.

Wow that sucks. I did not realise ticks were near water, I just presumed it was any bit of long grass. Are you able to link the anti-freeze stuff? Being a hypochondriac I will definitely pick one up.

Why is it you had the tick in the house, do you know? Do you have a dog? Does your mum work in the garden a lot? Sorry I'm just super paranoid given how many articles I've seen about it affecting the Northern Beaches.

How does Mitch Marsh stay in the test side

Was probably our second best bowler in the innings...Smith dropped one off him at first slip and then Neville put one down with the gloves as well, deserved a 3-fa. Just needs to get rid of that one boundary ball he bowls every couple of overs although I think that's a result of trying too much as opposed to just wayward bowling.

He bats at 6 and gets no runs

I'd suggest slamball. Was on channel One here ages ago.

Wouldn't have been bitten in the house. I do have a dog but my assumption is that I probably brushed against a bush as I was walking up from my car to the house and a tick was sitting on the bus waiting to go. It was on the left side of my head, so must my hair must have brushed against it. Ticks like humidity and generally hang out on bushes/vegetation waiting for an animal to brush against them so they can cling on. So in the lower north shore it's pretty ideal being near the water and bush at the same time.

The stuff is just called Wart-Off Spray. Google it and you'll find it or ask at the chemist. I wouldn't worry too much about it, living where you live you may have had one before but not known about it. Anaphylaxis to tick bites isn't all that common, certainly not common enough for you to assume you have it.
