It was a really weird ruling. Parts of it read more like an ad in a magazine: "Like the Swiss Army Knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment". Just odd. Must have been an activist judge.

I think it is hard to get my head around because over here, we're like "unlikely to get shot if we get rid of most the guns". Over there they are like "more guns means people are less likely to attack" while they observe daily mass shootings. I look at my school and we are surrounded by paddocks and cows. We have had to recently install a 6 foot barred fence for child safety reasons and the community are uncomfortable that it makes the school feel like a prison. I cannot imagine having to walk through metal detectors each day and having to teach my kids how to survive in an active shooter scenario.

I can tell you what my American sister in law said when she stayed here for 2 years. She said at first, i thought it was really boring. And then I realised that when I walked down the street or walked into a store I wasn't watching or caring what other people were doing, that I didn't have to. And that the reason there was nothing on the TV was there was Nothing being done to be ON the tv.

Court case around the legality of abortion and the ability for pregnant women to choose what happens to their bodies if I remember correctly. If the ruling is ever overturned, my understanding is women across America would be forced to have their baby in all circumstances, including those impregnated through criminal acts.

This picture reminded me of the time we brought my new born brother home from the hospital...in a cardboard box. See, Mum & Dad already had 3 kids, and there were no such things as baby seats in those days...and there was no room in the car for us 3 kids mum/dad and a bassinet deal to to put the baby in.

So they just used a cardboard box and lined it with blankets and sat it between us kids on the backseat. Child safety in the 70's ladies and gentlemen.
