I was 13 stories up in Sydney CBD when the Newcastle one hit. There's nothing like being in a shaky building watching the iron rebar on the construction site next door rock and roll![]()

Yep. All good. No damage but felt like the whole slab of the house swaying back and forward for a good 40 seconds. Thank god it was centred in the Alps. Had that been closer to the city, I hate to think of the damage it would have caused.Earthquake check in Everyone okay?
It does through the great dividing range . Our defensive line against the JapsListened to the ABC regarding the earthquake, apparently there's a fault line or something similar going from the northwest to the southeast of Australia, so this region of VIC is prone to earthquakes.
The major one in Vic is the Selwyn fault. Runs from around Arthur's seat, up through Pearcedale and into the Dandenong's. Considering mountain ranges are caused by the pushing up of land due to the shifting of earth, anywhere along a mountain range (including the great dividing range) would likely experience earthquakes at points.Listened to the ABC regarding the earthquake, apparently there's a fault line or something similar going from the northwest to the southeast of Australia, so this region of VIC is prone to earthquakes.

Who the hell takes the light globes with them?So moving into a new property over several days, not staying yet cause there's no bed and sh*t.
You move during the day cause there's light , you know, from the sun.
Anyway fast forward a few days and we've finally got the bed and gonna spend our first night.
Sun sets, go to turn on the lights.

Nothing. several hours from nearest store, we figured out the previous tenant had removed ALL of the light bulbs before leaving.
First night, only the warm glow of the tv to keep us illuminated.
Now I always keep a lightbulb on me.
