Damn! Matildas won. Hard to imagine the media frenzy could be any more OTT, but fasten your seat belts. You ain’t seen nothing yet. It’ll make what we’ve had so far look like a Sunday school picnic.

yeah seems all the rage , glad they won, but not a huge fan of the sport.

Some other sports teams would like the hype the matilda's get and even the socceroos get, But guess it's a popular sport

I never used to be a big fan of the sport, I've come around a bit in recent years, and from what I've seen of this World Cup it's been enjoyable to watch. The Matildas have a good side, not sure if they can win the whole thing as they looked out on their feet in extra time against France, but they have a good enough attack and their keeper is in the best form of her career atm. Football (soccer) has always had high participation rates in this country, if I were the AFL right now I'd be a little worried about NSW and Queensland to be frank, the Swans have the strongest 'brand' (as much as I hate that word) of the clubs in the northern states thanks to Buddy, but if I were a kid growing up in Western Sydney today, the thought of potentially playing for the Socceroos (or Matildas) one day would be far more appealing than playing for Greater Waste of Space (lol). Each to their own though!
