Mr Victoria here, I don't believe any Vics had a crack at Clarke, his record at shield level was outstanding. Tubby is one of my all time favorites and set up the team for Waugh to get the kudos . Hope there are no spelling mistakes for your perfectness.

When he got picked in the Australian team it was Dean Jones (If I remember right) that wrote about how he would be a dud because he had a habit of hitting the ball in the air all the time and would get found out at test level, even though he had been doing it since he was playing under 10's and was always being told that he would get found out at the next level...which never happened.

Cox? how about Tubby Taylor, captain and opening batsman from NSW when he wouldnt of scored a run at a bbq

In the late 80's Mark Waugh was given the nickname 'Afghanistan' (the forgotten war) because he was piling on the runs in the Shield and not getting a look in...so much for the NSW bias!

They made it up to him carrying him the last 30 odd tests he played :P

in 1989

Im talking in 1997

Cox scored 1149 runs at 61

Taylor averaged 27 with the bat over 2 years

1997, WTF.
He was test captain, the team was nigh on unbeatable.
Sure Cox was stiff, but so was Jamie Siddons and Lehman and Stuart Law.

97 unbeatable?

beat the craphouse windies 3-2
south africa 2-1
dropped the first test to a rubbish england side

Taylor was a liability with the bat

Remember Bevan playing as a bowler? just so we had 6 batsmen

Ah Bevo....perfect example that shield runs don't make you a test batsman.

After watching that boring shit, how can people let their kids play it over the best game in the world.

Dunno just had the same conversation with my brother banging on about it being great

There must be paint drying somewhere

I'm serious, who cares about the money, it's boring. Next to no goals , at least little Johnny in our game can kick a couple. The commentators are terrible as well in this country, but I grew up listening to Martin Tyler.
