I wont pretend to be a drug expert at all. Im just sick of people ruining others lives with their behaviour and also people profiting from the misery of people and their families

Yeh I agree 100%...I'm no expert either but I've seen both sides and think it's important to make the distinction.

Appreciate that 100% mate. Good point.

Ice is genuinely horrific and is destroying countless lives every day, but there is a massive difference between that and the types of drugs that would have been at the event Bedford was referring to. The majority of the people there who were indulging in party drugs so to speak would never touch ice, completely different crowds.
Bullshit they don't mate and that's not a crack at you.

I know it's not mate but I think I'd have a better idea than you on this topic given most of them are around my age and I had quite a few friends there. Ice isn't a party drug in any way, shape or form...it's for deadbeat junkies.

Mate I do know, there are a few on here that might acknowledge what ive been through

It can't be policed though and never will be able too

The amount that's getting made and coming in would be major major amounts

Only way anyone can stop if addicted is to do it themselves and get far and away from that crowd but they always seem to make there way back

It's a shocking drug

Research shows that anyone that is willing to try 'party' drugs eventually ends up trying other drugs.
The problem with trying ice is that it is highly addictive.
The availability of ice is absolutely scary.
Together it is a recipe for disaster and a good reason why we should never dismiss drugs as just 'party drugs'.

How true mate, there are no good drugs, except the ones that can save a life

Of course there are many factors that can lead to drug addiction.
Note that my original statement was that it leads to 'trying other drugs' not necessarily drug addiction.

I am pretty sure that trying drugs is a major factor that leads to drug addiction. ;)

Your original statement was that all people who are willing to try 'party drugs' eventually move on to harder drugs. That is patently false, and not what any of those sources show.

The Conversation article you just linked to explicitly says "...the gateway theory starts to look flimsy when you consider the fact that not everyone who uses cannabis goes on to use heroin."

Almost hard drug users would have used party drugs first, and legal drugs before that. But you can't extrapolate from that "taking pingers means you will eventually inject smack", or "all people who drink alcohol will eventually use ice".

Alcohol causes immeasurably more societal problems than recreational drugs though yet there is nobody advocating it being made illegal?

There is no defending illicit drugs.

Call some of them pingers or party drugs to make yourselves feel better about them if you like, but they're still illicit drugs.... and they can kill you.

Alcohol and tobacco belong in a different conversation IMO.
