This hilarious Leslie Nielsen bit popped into my head today. Absolute menace
I'm good with about 6 hours. Just got back today from a 4 day camp with 80 odd Year 6 students. First night one of the kids wakes up at 3am after the kids finally settled around midnight, wants to go home, can't get on to parent and then sits out the front of the cabin refusing to go in for 45 minutes. Eventually get him in the medical room on a mattress but of course myself and a colleague have to then stay awake so he doesn't raid the pharmacy worth of medication.how much sleep do people feel they need of a night on a regular basis
think i had 3 last night but i usually do like say 6 as a rule

Second night got about 6 hours but woken 2 hours in from a kid that can't sleep because its hot. Told him to take the sleeping bag off his bed, shrugs his shoulders, wanders back to his cabin and don't see him again.
Last night, just settled and one of our anaphylactic kids has a meltdown thinking they had eaten something they were allergic to.... they hadn't. Another gets homesick and another lot freak themselves out by telling ghost stories only for the wind to pick up and the bathroom door starts knocking. Tears and then settled. An interrupted 4-5 hours.
80 hours straight of work. Walked in the door and fell onto the bed for 5 hours of rest before waking up and now I probably won't sleep properly tonight.
Was actually one of the better ones I have been on. In general the kids were great, food was good, activities were constant, well run and varied, weather was great. The kids just lack a bit of resilience, are enabled by one particular staff member that seems to think she has missed her calling as a child psych despite having the maturity of an 11 year old and haven't spent much time away from home due to COVID.so good camp then?

They're 10-11 years old so I can see it.This is what I found surprising, I can't remember any kids wanting to go home during the camps I attended as a student. Is this normal? or a trend in recent years?
It was good to see so many of the kids really toughing it out and trying new things despite their apprehension and fears. Nothing beats the smile on their face when they have a go at something they were reluctant to try and realise how fun it is.I remember grade 6 we went to canberra for a week - big deal for some had never left tassie- don't remember anyone considering going home/being home sick
But I guess when every second news report /podcast etc is about nut jobs and dangers for your kids , parents become overly protective then it reflects on the kids maybe?
i know i wouldn't just let my kids ride off around the neighbourhood - i trust them but not other idiots, where as my mum had no idea where i was riding off too most of the time and I never considered telling her.
I run a lot and even then during the day i see enough oddballs out and i'm a 39 year old man
guess my point was so do see where some of the lack of resilience festers form, though my daughter has grade 6 camp coming up and hasn't shut up about it , so hopefully they enjoy it
sounds like you are building some life experiences for the kids Mister B
I think you need to explain yourself moreHi guys, sorry for the intrusion. And feel free to disregard/delete if this isn't the place to ask!
I'm doing a lap of the country next year and I'm trying to find good kennels to put the dog in for each capital city for a week or so. Is there anywhere in Sydney you'd recommend? I'd rather go off personal recommendations than vague online reviews. Hoping for decent value and good care.
Cheers.![]()
Not offhand mate, when I had dogs I used a house sitter. However, I'll put the word out and see what I can find for you.Hi guys, sorry for the intrusion. And feel free to disregard/delete if this isn't the place to ask!

Anything location wise re: boarding? Will you have transport to get them where they need to go?He's a lab and loves space, that's all I can think of haha.

Yeah I’m cruising around in a caravan so will have wheels. Not too fussed on location as long as it’s fairly easy to get to from the city area.Anything location wise re: boarding? Will you have transport to get them where they need to go?
