Because I didn't get a chance to reply to Stat and K in the other thread...

I don't have anything against Tom Scully for taking the cash, any youngster in his position would be mad to turn it down, but I still thought the song was brilliant just because it tapped into the emotions surrounding the whole saga so well. And that's what great songs do.

The Melbourne fans will get over it in time, but I can imagine now they would be feeling pretty empty at having given up a priority pick for Scully. Whether they really did tank or not is almost irrelevant, just the suggestion that they tanked to get him has already damaged the club somewhat. It's already (arguably) cost them their coach.

Can somebody tell me what the **** has gone on with Mark Harvey and Freo and Rodney Eade today? I don't wanna trawl through the ever-expanding thread on the main board.

I've been out all day and have no idea what's gone on aside from Harvey amazingly being sacked. Someone fill me in on how it all came about and where Eade fits in?
 
mark harvey sacked without reason (although some have suggested its cause he use to override the information of the medical staff), club announcement tomorrow as to who the new coach is, there is speculation that it is eade because he was in perth
 
Wow. What an incredible turn of events. If someone had told me at the start of the year that a coach of a team not playing finals anymore would be sacked this afternoon my guess certainly would not have been Mark Harvey.

Sounds like his having a go at staff members may have had something to do with it given Freo played fairly well with such a horrendous injury list.

I love when huge AFL news explodes like this. It's exciting. Don't like it because a bloke got sacked but just to see something like this is, I dunno, stimulating (for want of a better word).

Haha, now Rodney Eade is out of it. Apparently has said on SEN it isn't him.

Ross Lyon? Mick Malthouse? Who could be this "opportunity too good to refuse"? I'm loving the suspense even though it is taking away from finals coverage on the footy programs tonight.
