Debutant
This is how i reckon the home and away season will pan out:
Carlton - if injures to key players hold, then they probably won't lose too many games - they have the best player in the afl and a host of solid guns like Ratten and Whitnall -
Brisbane - The only reason they are not on top is due to the draw where they have to travel 9 times. They have been sensational in the Ansett cup and Voss looks pumped for a big year. Mal Micheal and Martin Pike add depth
Hawthorn - Another team on the rise - Nathan Thompson needs to kick at least 70 goals for the Hawks to go anywhere
Kangaroos - Should be thereabouts. I don't think Bell's departure should hurt them too much . Sav looks to be in great shape
Geelong - Same as last year. They could finisher higher due to an easy draw but we all know how the Catters play against struggling clubs - will probably lose to Freo or WCE at some point
Sydney - look sharp and kelly should have a big year
Essendon - okay but they won't go back to back nor finish top 4 i'm willing to make a bet on this
Bulldogs - Should scrap just in at 8th spot but once again, will bundle out in the first week
Melbourne - I had sydney in and melbourne out, mainly due to the fact that they are too reliant on too few, and if injuries hit the fan, they are stuffed
Collingwood - They will improve marginally this year, but i would wait to 2002 before talking finals
Port Adelaide - One swallow doesn't make a summer - they beat 3 finals teams in Geelong, Sydney and Essendon but both the Dons and Geelong were decimated with injuries/players resting and quite frankly i can't see them winning away from home
Fremantle - They won't be as bad as everyone thinks, but their problem is rather like Port's - they are hopeless away from WA
St.Kilda - A new list of players and a new coach won't automatically lift this bunch of underachievers. Word is, Aaron Hamill is upset with the lack of professionalism at the place
Adealide - Now Gary Ayres is a reasonably good coach, too bad his playing list is UTTER CRAP - with the exception of one or two others
Richmond - Now were talking about mediocre lists - everyone talks about Richo being the difference, but the fact is once again Richmond do not have enough talent to even reach the eight, their defense is solid enough, it's a shame their onballers and fowards do not know how to play conhernt, consistent football
WCE - a rabble won't win more than 5 gams
