In order of prestige,

Brownlow, Club B&F, MVP, AA, Coleman Medal, Norm Smith.

For me it is,

MVP
Brownlow
Norm Smith
Coleman
AA
Club B&F

MVP is a true reflection of who the best player was in a year. The Brownlow is not. Only 1-3 times a decade it gets the most deserving winner.

2000 - Kouta or McLeod should have won it instead of Woewodin
2001 - McLeod again
2002 - Voss
2003 - Voss again
2004 - Warren Tredrea or Nick Riewoldt
2005 - Ben Cousins should have won by far more
2006 - Chris Judd
2007 -Gary Ablett
2008 - Gary Ablett
2009 - Gary Ablett

Interesting to see the MVP rated so highly by so many. Who could honestly name the past 5 or so winners of the top of their head?

Brownlow
MVP
Norm Smith
AA
Coleman

Ha! Brownlow first? And then MVP? Gotta be kidding me. If a brownlow was so fuc*ing special why didnt Wayne Carey, Gary Ablett snr, Stephen Silvagni, Matthew Lloyd, Matthew Richardson, Lance Franklin, Andrew McLeod or Matthew Pavlich win one?

The Brownlow is a midfielders medal - its a crock of shit

Since i can remember: Libba (mid), Stynes (Ruck/Mid) Wynd (Ruck/Mid) Wanganeen (Mid) Williams (Mid) Kelly (Mid) Voss/Hird (Mid) Harvey (Mid) Crawf (Mid) Woewodin (Mid) Aker (Mid) Black (Mid) Goodes, buckley, ricciuto (Ruck/Mid) Judd (mid) Cousins (Mid) Goodes (mid) Bartel (mid) Cooney (Mid) Ablett (Mid)

Brownlow = Joke

MVP - Herald Sun rubbish award

AA = Judged way too harshly and players get placed that dont even play in particular positions

This is what counts - Norm Smith; being best on in often a winning side - not many players get it from the losing side

Club B&F - how your club views you

Norm Smith - BOG in a GF (and probable premiership side) has no peer
Club B&F - voted by the MC of the tribe you represent
Brownlow - I'm not a wrap, but don't dispute the noteworthiness of winning
AA
Coleman
MVP - hasn't taken off as a significant award, imo

It's a team sport and most players are far more concerned by how they're regarded by their peers. Not many seek individual glory. But yes, there's a notable exception.

(these are all individual awards, but some are more team oriented than others)

Pretty rare occurence - whilst the winnner isn't always an exceptional footballer - none spring to mind that have had a poor year

It's just the idea of it. Reward a player for an effort that day. Seems pretty weak to me. I guess their is the other side to it - yeah pulling through for your team on it's most important day but still, I stand by what I say.

Mine in terms of prestige:

Brownlow
Norm Smith
Coleman Medal
MVP
AA
B&F

Can't believe how far the Coleman medal has slipped in so many eyes. It is still a very prestigious award. If you win the Coleman you are also automatically AA Full Forward so how can some of you have AA ahead???

There are 16 B&F's every year and 22 AA's.

It is far easier for me to name the Brownlow, Norm Smith, Coleman and MVP from the top of my head for the past few years than to name all the other players in AA and B&F.

If you said there is more prestige winning the Melbourne B&F last year or getting a spot in the AA team than winning the Coleman i cannot agree.

Seems to be some confusion as to what the MVP award actually is:
I'm not so sure about it's credibility even. i mean with players focussed on their roles, over a hundred rotations a game do you really think they pay that much attention to who is going well for the other side unless it's their man? i reckon there'd be quite a few who would by default just vote ablett, riewoldt, pavlich etc. or the opposite

Oh I thought the MVP was the one the coaches vote on

MVP - see how players are ranked per coaches

MVP - Herald Sun rubbish award

1. Premiership Medal
2. Norm Smith (Most likely won the premiership)
3. Brownlow
4. B&F
5. Coleman
6. AA
7. MVP

MVP (Leigh Matthews Trophy, I assume)
Club B&F
Norm Smith
AA
Coleman Medal
Brownlow

Anyone that puts the umpires award anywhere bar last place needs to have a rethink.

I'd actually say that winning a B&F in a premiership side is close to the greatest thing you can achieve individually.

Nathan Buckley rates it as the highest individual award in football.

2009 - Gary Ablett Jnr & Corey Enright
2008 - Lance Franklin
2007 - Gary Ablett Jnr
2006 - Chris Judd
2005 - Brett Kirk
2004 - Warren Tredrea
2003 - Michael Voss
2002 - Simon Black
2001 - Simon Black & Michael Voss
2000 - Dustin Fletcher
1999 - Anthony Stevens
1998 - Mark Ricciuto
1997 - Andrew McLeod
1996 - Wayne Carey
1995 - Brett Ratten
1994 - Glen Jakovich
1993 - Gary O'Donnell
1992 - Dean Kemp
1991 - Ben Allan
1990 - Tony Shaw

Not too many look out of place in the past 20 years, interesting that only S. Black and G. Ablett were coincidental Brownlow years too.
