Our structures have been letting us down all season. Maybe the players aren't sticking to the structures because they know that they don't work. If it is the case that players aren't doing what the coach is asking of them there will be some major changes to our team for this weeks game. But the worst things of all this season are our presssure, zoning and tackling. Last year when the ball entered our forward 50 it would take the opposition a hell of a lot of work to get it out. This year it goes in and comes straight out. And it's the opposite for our defence; we can't get it out. Unfortuantely the main reason for this is that our whole game plan is based on one player, Sandi

On the other topic how many times have our own players gone up for a pack mark with Fyfe and knocked the ball out of his hands. Mcphee is one of the worst culprits, he is utterly stupid. Always comes mindlessly crashing through packs risking serious injury to our own players in a vein effort to take a mark which he always drops. Our own players should know by now that if Fyfe is anywhere near a contested marking situation to leave him to go for it alone or shepherd other players out of the way.

Statistically this year Fyfe is 7th in the entire AFL for contested marks in his second season. What is even more amazing is the players ahead of him (Cloke, Petrire, J Pod, Mcevoy, Cox and Kennedy) are an average of 6 years older than him and are all either Key Position players or Ruckman. Fyfe is a demi god.

Our communication on the field is nowhere near up to scratch. Most of our injuries are a result of friendly fire.

if you actually read the conferance, he addresses why we lost, as in "players didn't stick to structures" and basically looked like headless chooks trying to get the ball out of our defensive 50. that is much more productive from a coach than some weak apology. ask hardwick how his apology has worked for him.
'Didn't stick to the structures' doesn't really mean anything though, does it? Just one of those empty coaching phrases clubs say.

Agree with all of that yakka man! Shits me to tears whenever I see a whole bunch of Freo players go for the same mark, spoiling each other and then leaving nobody at ground level to collect the ball. Makes it incredibly easy for opposition players.

Maybe we're just not as good as I thought we were, but no team in the AFL packs it in more than we do. Nothing has changed, piss weak at the true core.

Actually, Melbourne do.

Did you see the inside 50 count? Our defense actually does a solid job considering that the pressure we've applied through the midfield this year has been pathetic.

Really impressed with out defense, think it's been sensational all year, midfield is rotten and is the one area we couldn't afford to lose players, really hard to judge the forward line, especially in the last 8 rounds because their service has been rock bottom.

McPharlin, Grover and lately Silvagni have been great, but we have been lacking the runners out of the backline to carry the ball and deliver up the field. Duffield hasn't been special this year and Ibbo has been the clanger king. Broughton has had to be moved into the middle to cover for us there.

defence has been awesome. looks like chris scott leaving hasn't affected us much in that department after all.

I really don't understand how Roberton is playing AFL. I can't see a single redeeming feture to his game. He is so slow, can't run 20m without looking stuffed and has deplorable skills. MRP can do us a favour and get rid of him.

Don't want to "do a Clay" but I've been saying this for a while now, the problem though is that we have nobody else to bring in for him. Ditto Ibbotson and Johnson.

Maybe it's favouritism but I'll forgive MDB/Mayne/Mzungu for the moment considering they at least give 100%.

I know we have a debilitating injury list but we're still at least 2 years away from having a a sufficient amount of depth, and unfortunately by then Pavlich and McPharlin will be well past their best, although you could argue Pavlich is already past it considering he's now a midfielder and a very average one at that.

Just had to laugh the other night when Pavlich ventured foward for once and almost immediately kicked a goal

I think we may snag the Carlton game at home if Sandilands and Mundy are back but I'd be shocked if we were even competetive in the other games. Such a depressing year.

Having said that I think most of us always considering 2012 to be the year we seriously challenged and I think we can, injuries permitting (although I'm so pessimistic right now I highly doubt that will be the case)

Oh yeah and we desperately need a lock-down small defender (to name just one position in which we are lacking) as we've been killed by small fowards since forever, Broughton is the best suited on our list but it'd be senseless now considering he's transitioned into a damn fine midfielder.
