Another funny thread from the man himself. I'm about your age and I think you are completely deluded/confused about rap.

I have about 50-60 albums of rock/alternative stuff and 2 Public Enemy albums, which I really like, and you obviously havent listened to. Rap is the modern day poetry and it has some of the best themes/storylines in music.

I know you wont take a second glance, but I've listed a fewgreat albums you should listen to before making another uneducated judgement avout rap music

Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Stop Us
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
Run DMC - Run DMC
Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary by Boogie Down Productions as well! :thumbsu:

Yeah, in fact, get Tech N9ne's Everready (The Religion) album. If you don't like rap it will probably get you into it. Damn it's good.

I'm not a huge rap fan but do appreciate it from time to time. Songs like Changes are some of the most moving music i've ever listened to. Also stuff by Jay Z and Nas is almost always gold. Dre, Eminem and Snoop are also listenable along with some of the older Icecube NWA stuff. I've never been able to get into 50 Cent or Ludacris or the newer rap stuff.

Rap is a major reason I vehmently oppose multiculturism. If it wasnt for ethnics, rap would never have made it here. :(

Without ethnics you wouldnt be australians;)
Plus, without some australian inventions rap probably wouldnt exist anyways

Rap isn't the same as it used to be.

But having said that, most of the hip hop out these days might not be great lyrically but they still have good beats and are fun to listen to in the clubs...... i mean who wants to listen to rock or whatever when they are out??? i sure as hell don't.

It's important, we communicate
and tune the fate of this union, to the right pitch
I never call you my bitch or even my boo
There's so much in a name and so much more in you
Few understand the union of woman and man
And sex and a tingle is where they assume that it land
But that's fly by night for you and the sky I write
For in these cold Chi night's moon, you my light
If heaven had a height, you would be that tall
Ghetto to coffee shop, through you I see that all
Let's stick to understandin and we won't fall
For better or worse times, I hope to me you call
So I pray everyday more than anything
friends will stay as we begin to lay
this foundation for a family - love ain't simple
Why can't it be anything worth having you work at annually
Granted we known each other for some time
It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine

There are times.. when you'll need someone..
I will be by your side, oh darling
There is a light, that shines,
special for you, and me..

Rap is the same as any other genre, there's crap and there's quality. Another similarity of both genres is that a lot of commercial music is pretty crap as well.

To be sure that an entire genre is crap you can't just look at easily available commercial music. Hell, if I judged how rock was by bands like Hinder and Creed I'd think it sucks too.

50 Cent would actually have to be the worst artist i have ever heard, if he is an 'artist' its pure shit. he can go get shot another **** knows how many times.

Are you serious?

Have you heard of Notorious B.I.G. He has the biggest vocab of any singer/artist ever. How about Nas, Dre or even 2pac? Not good lyrics, bah. Listen to Immortal Technique, Dizzee Rascal.
Akon is not rap. So I do not know why you are mentioning those lyrics.
And let me guess G.C. have awesome lyrics. Find me some gc lyrics and I can find you a rap song that is ten times as good. Emo bands will never touch rap lyrically.
Damn straight.

Dont critisize the hip hop industry and not even listen or heard of BIG.
