A second question:
Which teams no longer produce longies for their players? (Brisbane is definitely one)
Will we ever see their longies again?

:lemon:

that was the one i was thinking of too. i think from memory a couple of the hawks fellas got stuck into those two for wearing longies too.

(note – features an image of the least-rare longy, but one of the most legendary)

Shame on those Hawks.
They were probably disgruntled that they couldn’t wear one of these beauties:

Alastair Clarkson is the devil incarnate.
The final Hawthorn players to wear longies were:

Mark Williams – Round 10 2005, M.C.G.

Sunday Special!

Gale-force winds howled across Moorabbin Oval in Round 19 1981 when the Saints hosted Richmond.
Eight St Kilda players and twelve Richmond players wore longies.
133 points were scored downwind compared to only 23 against.
Paul Sarah won the match for Richmond with a goal into the wind after the siren.

Round 21 1997 featured the Western Bulldogs hosting the West Coast Eagles in the final match at Whitten’s Western Oval.

West Coast best-and-fairest’s Ben Cousins and Guy McKenna marked the occasion by wearing longies.

It was that cold Peter Matera wore a Long Sleeve over a Long Sleeve! Nathan G Brown emerged initially in a long sleeve (and a ponytail) as well but changed to a sleeveless later on.

Bennell is wearing a longy over a normal sleeveless jersey, or vice versa. As seen by the 2 apparel logos

Definitely a short over a long, Rodney Maynard was the king of that (and I've been known to do that at times as well).

The best double I could find is a young Jason Akermanis, Round 10 1996.

A sadly discontinued tradition was wearing a longy at least once early in your career.
Here is half a dozen such players:

Wayne Campbell – Round 15 1996, M.C.G.

David Neitz – Round 6 1997, Waverley Park
