Name: Lucas Pezzini Leiva
Nationality: Brazilian
Date of Birth: 9th January, 1987 (current age, 21)

Lucas is the former Captain of the Brazilian Under 20 team, he made 9 appearances for that side and scored 4 goals in the process, has been capped twice by the Brazilian national side.

From 2005-2007, Lucas played for Gremio in Brazil, making 38 domestic league appearances, scoring 5 goals in the process, currently, Lucas has made 10 domestic league appearances for Liverpool, without a goal, his only goal for Liverpool, came in a 5-2 win over Havant & Waterlooville in the FA Cup at Anfield.

Lucas won the 2006 Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball) for the best player in the Brazilian league.

There are a few on here who doubt Lucas' ability, while there are others who believe the kid is an absolute gem, and will mature into a fine world class player. Rafa Benitez obviously rates him, as he started him in the R16 first leg against Inter Milan last week.

I believe he's had a very good season for Liverpool, he's not a genuine goal scoring midfielder, although he can find the net, just not for Liverpool it would seem, however, his only bad game came at the weekend against Middlesbrough (in my opinion anyway), I think his best performance for Liverpool came in the 1-0 loss at Upton Park against West Ham, he only played 30 minutes in that match, but I thought he was Liverpool's best player on the night.

What do others on here think of him, and would he be in your clubs first team? What kind of future does he have? And did Liverpool pay too much to acquire his services? (reported to be around 6m)

Well he aint a left winger, and lacks composure atm. Will be good but will take alot longer to realise his potential then Liverpool fans realise. Id be waiting another 18 months.

I think he's being eased into it, not playing too many games in a row from the start while ge gets used to English football, he'll be better next season, then will turn into a superstar!

Not sold on him yet. Hasnt really shone but he hasnt been shit. Hopefully he will continue to get more games. We'll see how he goes as Alonso recovers from injury and gets his form back, can Lucas keep Xabi on the bench?

What jod's said. He had one good game against West Ham, but hasn't delivered much else. Still a kid who's very much a work in progress.

Has looked OK in the bits and pieces of reserves that I've seen, but can't say I've been impressed with him at the higher level.

Early days yet though.

nah he won't make it.
He's gonna be like Sissoko, seems like to have a lot of potential, but not gonna improve much.
