The doggies need a tapruckman/forward.

How do you guys rate Brogan for:

tap work:

physical presence:

pack mark:

kick for goal:

I am guessing an ex basketballer would be fairly agile and have a good leap, but be a bit soft on the body-on-body stuff, especially at (only) 92kgs. Seems like Daniel Bandy mk II to me...

I can only tell you how he's gone at SANFL level in the last two years. He played a fair few games last year for Port but didnt get a lot of gametime.

How do i rate him: I rate him very highly and hope he is our no. 2 ruck next year. This year in the SANFL he dominated pretty much. Was getting 30+ taps a game plus usually in excess of 20 possesions and a goal or two a game.

tap work - is excellent

physical presence - is very strong despite weighing 92kg. Can definatly hold his own.

pack mark - not too sure.

kick for goal - very good for someone of his size.

He is a skillful big man. Very quick for his size too.

Coming from a Basketball backgroud he has good hands and obviously is pretty athletic.

As for his tap work, i'd say above average, mainly due to his leap and the ability to get his hand on the ball first.

His physical presence is probably an area he could work on, although it may affect his athletness in a bad way.

He's a good mark (due to his good hands) and a pretty good kick for a big fella.

Not sure though why the WB would want him, much more likely to stay at Port than get traded unless it is a great deal, anyway Essendon & HAwthorn would probably offer more for him.

If Port trades away any ruckmen, I'd prefer to lose French first, and Ackland second. Keeping Primus, Brogan, Lade and Barry Brooks.

If the Bulldogs want a ruckman/forward, I'd suggest Ackland would come very cheap

Or pay full tote odds for French.

The way its looking at the moment is that French is headed to the baggers, and Keating to the Dons. Hawks are now odds on to take Spider.

The way I see it, The doggies dont have too many options other than trade for a 3rd string Port ruckman.

Brogan and Bandy might not set the world on fire by themsleves, but could proove a handful for the defence if both used in attack. Would let Darce have longer spells in attack, which would be nice.

Now, if we can only offload Eagleton for a 2nd rounder to ontrade to you guys....:)

Eagleton had a very good 1998 under John Cahill. Whether his loss of form in 1999 and after was caused by his medical problems or Mark Williams and then Terry Wallace's coaching regimes is anyone's guess. I never saw Eagleton as a stay at home forward and I reckon that's why he didn't succeed at the Bulldogs. Play him upfield a bit more and he's still got a lot to offer.

Wallace wanted Eagleton to be a player he isn't.
When he has had the shackles removed, he has produced, albeit occasionally.

Eagleton played for us HFF and wing, and very occasionally onball.

He is seriously one of the softest players going around, and accountable isnt in his dictionary. Nice deliverer of the ball, but not as nice as Alvey who suffers from the same deficiencies, although not as badly.

What's Graham Cornes on about in the Tiser today? He writes....
"Port will strengthen it's list as it sadly trades Barnaby French and Dean Brogan." We know Barnaby will be going but we don't know if we will strengthen our list or improve our draft prospects. There has not even been a story about any specific club linked to Brogan although I know there have been talks. Anyone know about Brogan?

If anyone knows about Brogan, it won't be Graham Cornes.
