Heres your chance to talk about were we are at.

Personally our list is already in the top 8 but we are at least 6 years from the premiership.

This is from the perspective as as a base to build a premiership

This is how I rate the current lists:

Geelong

Freo

GC

Hawthorn

St Kilda

Sydney

Bulldogs

Tigers

Essendon

GWS

Carlton

Melbourne

Collingwood

West Coast

North Melbourne

Port Adelaide

Adelaide

Brisbane

Collingwood and St. Kilda are both serious chances of winning it. Your kidding yourself.

The current Gold Coast list just copped a 9 goal hiding by one of the worst VFL teams.

You have no idea who they will draft.

I told you 6 years before we can challenge for the premiership.

This is not about our prospects for this year or the next four years!!

It is about our premiership prospects in terms of list talent.

So even though Collingwood are above us we have more chance of winning a premiership than Collingwood in the next 10-15 years for example than Collingwood thus the rating!

Any team could win the flag in 2016 except maybe Geelong who won't need to because they'll have 2-4 already. Predicting what will happen in 10-15 years is bullshit.

2-4 years before we challenge for the flag....everyone forgets players age ie geelong, st kilda, western bulldogs. Our list is mainly 24 and under which means there is going to be a vast improvement over the next few years as players gain strength, skill and experience. This team is no comparison to any in the past 30 years because of the amount of youth. We already have our gun players and we just need to fill the few cracks that we have.

In terms of up and coming talent there aren't too many teams in as good a position as us. Name me a better under 24 quartet (deledio, martin, cotchin, riewoldt).

Seriously, after any win success starved Richmond supporters need to be banned from making threads on any board for an extended period. For example, on the polls board I see Nick Riewoldt vs Jack Riewoldt, Should Jack have gone number #1 in front of Gibbs and Selwood, etc. Just embarrassing for the rest of us and now this thread. We have the worst list in the AFL, still another 10 or so list cloggers to cut at least.

The reason I don't rate Collingwood is because they will most likely get pipped by Geelong based on their last match and will gradually fall away as Freo and others rise. Same with Brisbane, Adelaide etc...

Bulldogs if not careful could do the same thing as well as St kilda which is reliant on Nick R.

The point of this thread is suggest Richmond have a great list already but we have a very long way to go to win a premiership. I still think we need good draft picks to win a premiership even though I rate us in the top 8 regarding talent!

I think this is a relevant thread because at the end of the day is not our goal to win a premiership long term!

The rest are just distractions except relating to subjects which improve our ability to win the premiership!!

Single focus- premiership!!!

Although guys like King, Tuck & McGuane have improved considerably under Hardwick, are they premiership players?

McGuane maybe, the other two, no.

We have good players, but to win a premiership we need superstars.

The only guy that we can call a superstar is...Jack Riewoldt.

Martin, Deledio & Cotchin are all stars who could become superstars.

While guys like Connors, Graham, Edwards, Nason are good players and have the opportunity to become great players.

Lots of holes to fill up on the list though, we have a better list than WCE, Adel & Port.

We probably need another year of development/solid recruitment to rival Melbourne & North Melbourne.

Brisbane have a strong list at full strength, but unfortunately its an aging list that will need to get turned over very soon.

I don't really want to get too player specific and negative.

I do believe Martin and Deledio will be great players with Martin potential superstar.

Cotch will probably become a great player and possibly a superstar!!

The others show great promise bt like others have said in some areas we have a few deficiencies compared to other lists which you have to since you have to beat them to win the premiership

Most teams rely on 8-12 players over the age of 24 we only rely on newman, tuck, cousins and moore. We have more young inexperienced players then any other team and we are only getting better and better. Our list is in good shape because we are almost guaranteed improvement as players bodies develop and they gain experience. As we have already knocked off 2 teams who rely on more senior players then us, our list is definately better than 2 teams. And a lot more IMO.

Jack's had a better year than both those guys.

Jeez, a bit head of yourself mate.

The Tigers have a few quality players, but we are still at least 2-3 solid years away from being a top 8 team, we have beaten Port Adelaide and West Coast Eagles, who are both sitting out of the 8, so what makes us a top 8 team?

Very silly thread to make.

Right now I have us on a par with North and only above West Coast and Gold Coast. Not counting GWS as yet.

Time will tell who drops off and who rises out of the other clubs but IMO people are underestimating how well we have done out of the draft in the last few years.

You can't compare them, two different sort of players. But, just because Riewoldt is having one good year, doesn't put him up into the class of those two blokes who are superb players. Not taking anything away from Riewoldt because he is quality young forward, but those two are just superb midfielders.

I know we have to cut another 10 or so list cloggers.

The point I am making is at least 12 other clubs need to do the same and only 4 clubs at the most have a chance to win the premiership at the moment including Geelong.

So Although our ladder position isn't good our prospects are great but we are still 6 years from a premiership!

here here. i actually thought to rate a list you actually rate its players. you also look at the list structure and depth of position.

i can understand all the hype though there has been improvement in players under hardwick. by the same token some have gone back wards.

at the start of this yr we had just 7 players with more than 100 games of experience. we have already lost one of them simmonds and over the next season or two we are likely to lose 4 or 5 of the rest.only one is quality in deledio.no thats wrong add cuz.

at the start of the season we had just 9 players with more than 50 games of experience and with this group we have a similar problem when we talk quality.
theres a good chance over half of these 50 plus gamers will be axed in the future.

hardwick is indeed coming from a long way back we still have one more cull minimum to go the list will get even younger and more inexpeienced before it heads up.

we still need to build a core once that is in place we can start to trade into some experienced players.
