I thought I'd start a thread on our 4 rookies:
Brayshaw
Banfield
Cerra
Crowden

When the game finishes it would be interesting to see what posters think of there first home game. A rating out of 5 stars and reasons why.

This has nothing to do with the teams win or loss except how they influenced the game and the individual efforts of each.

Cerra looks absolute class!
Crowden has had trouble adjusting to the pace. First game but he looks good regardless.
Banfield has no trouble finding the ball and uses it well. Steal of the draft
Brayshaw. Calling it early but I think we picked him earlier than we should. Looks solid, but I think there will be a few others of this draft who turn out better than him.

Cerra was terrific. Silky with ball in hand. Had an impact tonight

Crowden was ok. He looks like he has what it takes and tackled well. He found the pace a big step up but should adapt to it soon.

Brayshaw did nothing flashy but showed enough tonight to show he'll make a very strong footy player.

Banfield as already stated is a steal and improved from last game. Didn't have a big impact but did his bit.

Banfield and Brayshaw gave 100℅ effort start to finish. They both did a lot of great things and never back down from a contest.

Cerra is just super effective and clean when he has the ball in his hands. Is going to be a lethal high impact player for us.

Today's game opened up Crowden's eyes to the pace. He made some mistakes but you could see the intent and hunger to keep going in his eyes and body language. He needs to keep playing.

Crowden led the team for pressure acts, with 28. Brayshaw second with 23. At least it shows they were working hard to apply pressure even if they didn't get 30 touches.

Cerra looks like he just knows how to football.

Those stats put a different perspective to thier games. Ross would be very happy with their application

I agree 100%

Brayshaw just keeps going and going, still putting on pressure late into the 4th. Got 2 great HTB decisions.

Cerra went to the right spots and is a great kick of the footy. His deft handballs were something.

Banfield was great in his tagging role and I don't remember someone putting on as many blocks for us as he did ever.

If you took out Crowden's first half he did really well. The fact that his first half wasn't great and he responded even late into the game when he should be tired is terrific signs from a first gamer.

I love that Mitch "The Crow" pulled off one of his sidesteps in the last Q, shaking the tackle off by planting his tree trunk legs and just kind of wrenching his hips and torso out of the tackle. At the time I thought, woah that might work in U18 but you're in the big time now Mitch, but it worked!
I think the enthusiasm, unpredictable nature of the way he plays (witness the play on and pot shot of one step from 50) and his ability to kick a 50 worm burning missile is exactly what we need in the mix.

Banfield seems to be a magnet and the description of him being somewhere between Barlow and Crowley appears spot on.

Cerra is pure class on the outside but the kid isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and was under a few packs when the ball was up for grabs.

Brayshaw is a perfect utility who will just give great effort and execute well all day long.

Its a great mix of differing attributes and between them they have helped rejuvenate the team.

North is another I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can bring.

This is all without Darcy and Logue, 2 players who have shown considerable ability to mix it up at the top level.
Exciting.

Some nice leg strength on these "boys"!

What a great photograph.... obviously a professional.
It shows the depth of black and white shots. The club should hang an enlarged print of that in the foyer.
We will look back on that in ten years time; The, then, debutants at our first game at Perth Stadium.

It’s a genuine image for the ages.

I did a little, moments in time capturing, watching the replay again:

Bailey Banfield has his and the 1st kick by a Docker at Perth Stadium at :7 seconds into the game
Adam Cerra takes his 1st mark for a shot on goal at 1min: 8 sec into the game.
Mitch Crowden lays his 1st tackle 2min: 29 sec into the game.
Mitch Crowden lays his 2nd tackle 2min: 36 sec into the game.

Oh my.

Brayshaw is just the player we needed at the club going forward, tough and has a massive work ethic, won’t develop into a superstar like Dusty, Fyfe, Danger who wins a game off their own boot but could be a major midfield cog such as a Selwood, Cotchin, Ward, Hannebury. Just a good, solid and consistent mid.

Cerra on the other hand is the class, silky smooth and could be a Burgoyne, Mundy, Pendlebury. He’s also really good overhead and get pushed forward, kicked his 2 on debut when matched up with Hurley who’s an AA defender and no slouch. Really hope he sticks with us.

Banfield can be a great utility like Mzungu, Crowley or Barlow was for us, criminally underrated and helps the team tick, lets the stars shine.

Crowden just looks solid as a rock, hard to find a player to compare him to, ferocious tackler and a laser left boot. Think he’ll be just a strictly better Suban with class.

Obviously that’s an incredibly optimistic viewpoint, but one worth making :D

Can't emphasize enough how important Brayshaw will be to our midfield. However good he gets ball in hand he is already a defensive weapon. We have had a major problem defending at stoppages ever since we were forced by the rebuild to let all of De Boer, Muz, Micky B and Creepy go.
Fyfe, Neale and Blakeley (Mundy is the honorable exception here, but he's finished an AFL midfielder) are always hunting the ball and if they don't get it, it comes out unpressured.

This. Banfield and Brayshaw give us a much more rounded midfield. Fyfe and Neale will continue to be great offensive weapons at the stoppage. Hopefully the other two will mean we no longer get smashed in the middle when things don't go our way

Talk about making an early call! I think Brayshaw could be as good as Sam Mitchell.

If we can get some games into North, and he shows something, that might help in our retention of Cerra.. good mates back home

Hey, it all helps right?
