2013 has an evening and a day remaining, has it been a good one for you, or are you keen to see the end of it? I'm not a big believer in the whole 'new year, new me' type of shit, but a good reflection on the 365 days can be a good time to rewind and go over what went right and what went wrong.

For me,

Good: Starting uni, quitting uni halfway through, finding a better course in Melbourne, getting into said course, getting a good, well-paying job, getting back into playing footy after a year off, playing for a new club after eight years with a local team, meeting some new people and making good friendships, getting my licence (probably the highlight of my year), getting Foxtel installed at home, and just overall becoming more of an adventurous person in my first year out of school.

Bad: A bad footy season for North Melbourne, relationship strains, losing one of my best friends because of said relationship strains, losing the Grand Final in my local competition after kicking the first six goals of the game, struggling with the demands of having a car and how expensive it is, and struggling for the first half of the year after the death of a family member late last year, just trying to deal with the aftermath of it all.

Overall: 6.5/10

Good: Finished year 12, couldn't have been happier academically. All prepared and eager for Uni, became more comfortable socially, became increasingly independent, joined BigFooty, Brisbane's comeback vs. Geelong

Bad: Had a bad March/April due to a culmination of things, some stressful moments due to school, the rest of Brisbane's year.

Overall: 8.0/10

Good: Moved to Melbourne, got a girlfriend, indulged in good music & films, made new friends, went to good gigs, moved out, and now have proper freedom.

Bad: Pissed off some old Adelaide friends, drunk texts, Crows were pretty shit.

Overall a great year. Went to Uni, went to work casually, and then had fun weekends. One of the better years of my life.

I'm about in line with that.

Took plenty of time of work to pursue other hobbies, move around, get some travel in but worked enough to keep the financials ticking over.

Was in and out of various accommodation due to moving around, including a few 6-8 week stints back with the folks. That wasn't as bad as I was expecting though to be honest.

The old man upgraded his car which meant his old Holden landed in my hands FOC. Not the greatest car ever but a free car is a free car. Could sell it for $3-4k.

Furthered my education in web and software development, though that has stalled somewhat in the few months as have been pretty busy with work. Getting back into the last few weeks.

Socially was one of the best years of my life. Possibly the best. My first full year in Melbourne in 2010 was probably the other candidate. Some good nights out, some big nights out. Met some great girls. None progressed too far but there were only two that I was interested in taking it any further and one had to move back to Canada and I had to leave one behind in NZ. Such is life.

Musically was one of the worst. For whatever reason I just couldn't get my music mojo and only listened to about half a dozen new albums, and only went to maybe 3 or 4 gigs.

A solid 7 or 8 out of 10 for mine.

Awesome is all I can say, first year of uni was a ball, Uni games, meeting loads of new people. Passing all my units, getting a gf from uni, so 9/10 (Spoiled by North's inability to close out games).

2/10 for me .

Good points: Leaving school, turning 18, no one I'm close to cacked it this year, obtained two friends with benefits, attended many-a-good gigs and I won a hefty sum on the lotto.

Bad points: Leaving school, falling out with old mates, inability to hold down a steady job, self discipline and motivation at an all time low, getting over $300 in speeding fines, falling out with said FWB's, no luck with finding a girlfriend worth my time, mental health still questionable, Eagles shit season, still no closer to my goal of being 100% independent by my 20th birthday.

8/10. Mostly due to having my son. The first little while was definitely a tiring adjustment. I built some stronger relationships with friends and my career ticked along pretty well. Could have used a little more time off or a holiday though.
