7-8 out of 10. got a nice job but seem to have lost that job. picked up some healthy lifestyle habits. endured and came to the end of a not-so-good relationship and after a period of feeling sorry for myself had a look at myself and went about rectifying things so that i might get more out of me and other people - am in the process of becoming who i want to be. and then met someone else. successful side-career and business opportunities have opened up too. i've discussed this year with people and it's simultaneously the worst and best year of my life, with the good stuff at the end.

Good: moved house, new job, new car, debt free, no braces, finishing my diploma (which is surprising considering all the procrastination), still happy in LTR (11 year anniversary), having a positive attitude, learning to cook more, all family and friends still kicking around, getting closer to quitting smoking, making new friends

Bad: being stuck in my depressing job for so long, depression flip out, getting knock backs from great jobs, going into debt again (for the car), not learning to control my money as well as I would have liked, losing by 1 point in supercoach gf to my partner (2618 - 2619)

8/10 - great year!

Going to go for about a 3/10 only because of the two positives in finishing Tafe and first semester of uni with my lowest mark so far being a D, and getting my financial situation sorted, personal reasons deduct the 7, was a bit of a shit year for everything else :p

Good: Successful first year of uni, made a heap of new mates, turning 18, nightclubs, a very nice new car (for a first car at least), caught up with BigFooty mates in Melbourne, steady part time job (Domino's, Pricey97), finally returned to gym after broken collarbone, ditched my HTC and jumped on the iPhone 5s bandwagon, NicNat mark and goal v Norf, Brad Scott, Liverpool's start to this season.

Bad: Had some very stressful nights due to uni deadlines, didn't travel as much as I would've liked, shit swell all year up here in QLD, adopted pretty terrible sleeping patterns, West Coast were shit.

A pretty good year overall, 8/10.

Good:
University going well
Freo
Finally made a commitment to travel next year.
Ashes (2013-14 edition)
Started first serious relationship early in the year after a string of fwbs and shallow relationships.

Bad:
Freo on September 28
First serious relationship could well be over by tomorrow.

Quality year all up, 8/10.

Probably a 9

Good: Saw Springsteen 5 times. Definitely experienced the greatest day of my life at those shows, met some amazing people in the process and made some great friends out of it. Never thought it was actually going to happen. Went to Europe again with my best friend and another friend, forged unforgettable memories and experiences. Had a freaking amazing time and can't wait to travel again. Think some of my friendships with close friends got stronger too, always a bonus.

Bad: Still single, same job. eh.

Good:
Halfway through my uni degree and couldn't be happier with my results
Maintaining a strong relationship with my school friends
Nothing tragic happened in my life
Went on a few good trips - both with friends and with family

Bad:
Not really making new friends at uni
Still single
Still struggling for part-time work
Crows were shit

8/10 for me

Hard one to rate, do you rate in its totality (taking into account the good and bad) or on reflection of the spot you are in when you finish and where you end up)? Will go the former and say it was a really really hard and stressful time early in the year and the last month or 2 has been absolutely fuc*&* horrendous. Interspersed with a couple of decent patches, mid year and good run around September-October. Go 3/10.

Plenty of good. Plenty of bad. Just like every other year. So it depends what mood I'm in as to how I would rate 2013.

Right now I'm in an ordinary mood (on account of injuring myself and being unable to walk for the last few days) so I'll say 5/10. In one week that answer might be different even though 2013 will be the same...

...or will it? I've come to accept that time (insofar as 'past' and 'present' are concerned) is a myth we all propagate to give ourselves and our communities a seemingly-objective sense of meaning.

It is more accurate, imo, to say that I am only now and there is only now. All one. Now is real, the rest is make believe.

The more we allow ourselves to believe time myths, the more we put ourselves at the mercy of our weak (untrained) mental states. I made this mistake myself too many times in 2013. Perhaps I am making it now by believing that I am not meant to be hobbled on NYE.

If this is how it is, this is how it is.

Good:
- currently in the USA with family for a month
- become closer to a few mates from school I hadn't seen for ages
- promotion and payrise at work
- started CPA with consecutive HDs
- Tiges finally made a final
- Ashes are home
- built a solid friends with benefits deal with a lady

Bad:
- lost both grandparents, hit pretty hard and still is raw
- the only two left married uncles and aunties got divorced
- through this I have become closer to a couple of uncles I wouldn't otherwise have had
- a few drunken mistakes

Bad far outweighs the good, would be around 4/10, only because I am really kicking goals at work and progressed a lot this year.

2/10.

Terrible year. Felt like a big step backwards in a lot of respects.

The year seemed to go by really quickly, I didn't really accomplish what I'd hoped I would, and I had to deal with a slew of problems that caused me a lot of grief. Really hoping 2014 can be a better year, and I think it may be.
