Good
Finished my Uni degree, and grades should be sweet to get me into the post-grad I want to do.
Had a few good, casual flings.
Maintained good relationships with pretty much every friend that I have.
Made some good new friends.
Enjoyed a lot of the year.
Stable job with a promotion this year.

Bad
Stressful, Uni times.
Realised very late this year that casual flings are not what I want anymore.
Still not as good with money as I would like. Don't save enough.
Had an operation, but the issues experienced, while better, are still there.

Overall 7/10. Probably shaped by the fact the last couple of days were complete shithouse. If you asked me 1 week ago I would have said 8.5, but the last couple of days drag that down a little bit. Overall, can't complain.

Good

- Watching Freo play in a grand final live at the G, the whole atmosphere before the game was surreal.
- The Rabbitohs having a good year until the last Friday in September (season went poo dramatically after that).

Bad

- Not being able to get a foot back in the door to a job in my field all year, now close to 13 months without employment, thanks to the worse job market in decades.

- Having to come back to Perth to live with family as a result of struggling to find stable 5 day a week work in Sydney to pay rent plus bills. I really enjoyed Sydney for the lifestyle and friends and have had to force myself back to the boring sheltered Perth lifestyle due to a shyte job market.

- Social life since return to Perth has been shithouse.

- Not having a job I am happy about but only doing it as things are worse if I quit unless I get offered a job that I am qualified to do.

Good:
- Went on exchange and had without a doubt the best time of my life. Spent 4.5 months in New York, travelled to Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Montreal, Quebec, Niagara Falls, Massachusetts and spent 2 weeks in London. Made friends for life and really grew as a person.
- Family road trip to Uluru.
- I really love my job.
- Strengthened some of my existing friendships.

Bad:
- Diagnosed with depression in September.
- Cut ties with my best friend of 10 years.
- Got screwed around pretty badly by a guy.
- After 30 units at uni, I got my first credit and lost my HD average with 2 units to go.
- Lost the fitness levels I was really proud about having in 2012.
- I have no idea what I want to do with my life and I graduate soon.

Lots of high highs and low lows, so it's hard to rate out of 10. Maybe 5.

GOOD: Got a pretty decent first car, got my licence, finished school, got the ATAR I needed for Uni, Freo had a great year, got a decent enjoyable job.

BAD: My Pop died, still haven't spoken to my old man since January 2012, Freo lost the Grand final.

Overall a great year, really enjoyable and looking forward to real life!

8.5/10

Started the year in India.

Insanely busy first year of masters that was paid off somewhat by marks received.

Ended the year in Amsterdam.

Still single, good or bad is depending on what you're looking for.

Lucky year, 9/10

Pretty good year.

Good
-- Focused on spending more time doing worthwhile things rather than frittering away time online.
-- Focused on being more positive.
-- Read over 35 books and got back into gaming.
-- Overseas trip with my girlfriend.
-- Taught VCE English and seemed to do well enough to be teaching two VCE classes in 2014.
-- Made some new friends and stopped trying to stay in touch with others who clearly can't be ******.
-- Fitter and healthier.

Bad
-- Didn't go overseas these holidays due to flight pricing and left it too late to organise a trip to Sydney for the 5th ashes test to see old uni mates.
-- Still waste a bit of time online.
-- Developed a wicked coffee habit due to said reading habit.

I'd go with about an 8/10 but a guy on the first page had his first born son and only rated 2013 an 8, so I'll have to go with a 7/10.

Hoping to go to Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam in 2014.

Sadly reading over these pages the 'falling out' with friends seems to be a common disappointment for many.

Why is this?

I may be generalising but it seems to be amongst the early 20's...is it because the bond of secondary college wanes after school's out?

Rather sad reading. :(

Definitely to do with leaving school. People go to uni or get jobs and start operating in different social circles and aside from your really good mates, you find that you just drift apart.

From a year of 200 people I would only make contact with about half a dozen of them anymore, and have no interest in changing that.

Once leaving I found I had a lot more in common with the people I played cricket or football with.

I realised this year that is nigh on impossible to maintain a friendship mainly through texts or fb messages. And there's just not enough time to catch up with everyone, and you generally keep in contact with the ones that are more convenient to you.

Bad:
Crows season went to s**t
Coupled with Port improving out of sight :(
Career has hit dead end, pays OK but not enjoying work at all
Relationship hit dead end.
Ballooned out to 100kg mid-year

Good:
Saw a lot more of my friends (including interstate ones)
Saw a lot more of my family
Made a lot of online friends
Got out of bad relationship
Finances improved considerably
Got back to 92kg by the end of the year

A big improvement on 2012 overall, but nowhere near the best

Good:
Enjoyed 4-5 months of a relationship.
Completed first year of full-time work. Learned a lot, got good feedback, good relationships etc.
Had some amazing nights out.
Cut ties with people who were bad for me.
Hawthorn beat Geelong (better than the GF).

Bad:
Relationship ended (maybe good and bad).
Owed a shit load of money that I will almost certainly never see again.
Took substantial pay cut to work full time. lulz.
Made some stupid decisions with big consequences.
Didn't travel as much as I'd hoped.

Maybe 5/10.

That's a problem with FB, it interupts the natural ebb and flow of relationships with other people.

There's a reason you stop seeing people: you're just not that into each other's company.

You make time where you want to.
This, this, this. The problem with all online communication all together. There are no unresponded messages in real life conversations, there is no pent up anger and assumption.

2013 was an awesome year for me...

After 5 years, Uni is officially all over! Then to top that off, after 18 months of applying and not getting too far, I was offered a grad position.:thumbsu:

Then, to start off 2014, I manage to take a girl home in my drunken state on NYE.

So the year definitely gets a 10/10, and 2014 is already a 10/10.:thumbsu:

Meh 2013 but 2014 is a 10/10 to date.

One day, one lay.

I'm reasonably certain this ratio will continue uninterrupted for the entire year.

Wonder who tomorrow could be? The possibilities are endless.
Good to see someone else started off the new year with a bang as well... (pun intended...)

I've noticed that too. The only people I've kept close with since school (5 years ago now) are the ones who I can have conversations with about footy, cricket etc. They were my best mates at school anyway, but it's definitely helped maintain the relationships.

Not too bad.

Pros: finished second year of apprenticeship, saved some money, first year I played every game of footy without injury in 4 years, won best club man, plenty of good times with good people, became a godfather to my best mates child.

Cons: lost a friend very dear to me and our family, stayed single (may be a good thing), got a bit lazy looking for a house, had my fair share of sickness/burnout from working mostly 6/7 day weeks.

Ill give it a 6.5. 2014 bring on my first holiday in 5 years :)
