Ratten gone?

Looks like Clark has been notified by someone in the Ratten camp, and Carlton are denying it.

Don't most coaches get the arse?

Roos
Thompson
Parkin
Northey (Richmond)

Exceptions, rather than the rule.

Fair point. Should probably have said "so is David Parkin (second stint, not the first) the only Blues coach since Jezza to not get prematurely sacked?"

OK - let's for an instant think this isn't true. That Ratten hasn't been sacked, and that the review will take place at season's end as promised.

Aren't Carlton now in a nasty corner? How will it look at the end of the season if they turn around and sack him then? Or would they keep him on to avoid embarrassment??

360 will be interesting viewing when and if Malthouse is appointed. See if he holds him to the same standards as Lyon.

Cowardly act by Carlton but that's the culture of that organisation so what do you expect.
Gutless as ****. "End of year review" my arse.

Grow up Carlton. The board is out of control, dysfunctional and cowardly.
carlton are showing wat a corrupt and useless orginisation they are with the actions that have lead to the downfall of brett ratten.

Do any of you realise, that in his 5th year with the same players, Ratten coached a team that lost to the Gold Coast?

If its not true, what embarrassment? Another flat-out wrong report from a shoddy journo? Please.

What will be embarrassing, nay disgusting, is if there is any truth to this. Just let the bloke coach, do the review after the season and make the decision. Not like Malthouse is going anywhere.

In other news, Damien Hardwick has been sacked for losing to the Gold Coast.

I'm not excusing that whatsoever.

But I expect my club to treat one of it's champions and favourite sons with a bit more dignity by, you know, sticking by their word and staging a formal review first.

The writing was on the wall, but the way this has been handled (reportedly) leaves a very sour taste indeed.

As you would know, when you lose to the Suns, you can't "avoid embarrassment". When you lose to GC, you are immune from further embarrassment.

he also has like a 53% winning record and a year left on his contract. One bad loss doesn't define a career unless you are from Carlton.

Not really excusable, is it?

However, Hardwick's side is building. Ratten's regressed + had the ignominity of losing to an expansion side.

I wonder when it will be considered "OK" to lose to an expansion side?

Saw for a split second there that Landsberger has done a "Ratten timeline". Seems to be taken down now, but they'd want to be right.

Yet they smashed Essendon the week before and took us to the sword twice this year.

He was good enough to get that done, but loss and they react like children.

At least do the man with a little respect by sticking with your word about the end of season review, which from current reports, looks like a sham.

Lor Nicholson answered that question appropriately.

You don't know the day to day running on the inside. Is there a decent way to handle this?

Despite a 53% win rate, unfortunately, it roughly the same win rate against GC. Also, it's not one bad loss, it's a loss that is a result of of what has built up there, it's a loss that reflects on Ratten weakness as the head coach of the team.
