Can't blame it all on injuries. 2012 games played by last year's top 10 in the b&f (average used where players tied for 10th):

194 Adelaide
191 Sydney
185 Richmond
178 St.Kilda
175 Hawthorn
175 Carlton
172 Essendon
169 Brisbane
166 Melbourne
162 Geelong (1 missing), North Melbourne (1 missing)
160 West Coast (1 missing)
152 Gold Coast
151 Fremantle
139 Port Adelaide
138 Collingwood (1 missing)
128 Western Bulldogs (3 missing)

None. Malthouse has already tried and won at 2, as did Barassi, Jeans and Parkin. Clark, Smith, Hafey and Blight tried at three or more clubs and won at 1.

Thanks, suggests the weight of history would be against the club that does appoint him. Though someone has to be the first ( to win 3 at separate clubs).

yeah
top post:thumbsu: A fair and balanced treatment of history and why the Club is where it is today - it was shut out of the draft for two years - 2 Years - think about it- the turds that did that...morons - the wrong people were punished - the supporters. Puts Ratts achievements in perspective. Well done for a WhoreXx supporter.

i dunno about that - they set a punishment that mean that any administrator thought twice before cheating again - and i say that as a supporter of a club that has the resources to cheat like **** - same as yours and a few others - its put a huge handbrake on anyone cheating

dont forget that the crime was committed to statrt with and you all would have been happy to win a premiership out of it

I wouldn't get rid of Ratten.

That's not to say I don't think he has made errors this year.

My criticism of him though is not the wins / losses, it's that only injury forced his hand to play some guys like Casbolt, Watson, Bell.

I certainly think for example, the big guys in the side could of done with the pressure of Levi pushing for selection a lot earlier. I'll retract that if someone could clarify that none of these kids justified selection prior to now, but sometimes you just have to make a statement and drop guys who aren't performing.

I guess what I'm saying is, he has made mistakes, but more importantly has learned from them. Will be a more ruthless Ratten in 2013 IMO, as he now has the luxury of some promising kids to rotate through the side and keep other senior guys on their toes.

If there was cheating - take away the Premiership - simple and direct punishment and get rid of the crooks that were doing it...Only works if you had been consistent - everyone was rorting the system and still does one way or the other..

AFL scared other Clubs because they busted Carlton? Every Club is always after every advantage - think of all those better draft picks all of you got - for two years..think about the crippling of the biggest Club back then...they rewarded every other Club and gave them clear long term advanatages and rewards for toeing the line - this is a classic case of epic discrimination -

No one cared about 'A' Premiership ...if that was the isssue - TAKE IT BACK instead of all the BS Carlton had to cop. Truth is every other Club and AFL allowed Carlton to keep one Premiership - in exchange for no chance in the next 10-15 years - minimum.

This is what binds the Carlton supporters - real support it is why we haven't been killed off. It is why all you non Carlton people - ..Carlton is THE footie Club of Melbourne always has been always will be. We will get there and stay there for a long log time. We dont really care what other Clubs think - not in a nasty way ..we just dont care.

and for good reason.

Strange, 23 with 80% humidity. Are you sure you were at the game or like the Carlton forward line were you asleep?

Mate, all I know is that I went hunting for a bloody beanie to buy it was that bloody cold! Yes I was at the game, fantastic little stadium, but it was bloody cold!!!

Why wood you say that?

I think if they can sign MM Rats is gone, if they can't i think they're better off sticking with Ratts.

This would have to be the greatest heap of dribble I've ever read on this forum, and that is really saying something. The only part I agree with is how you don't care about what other clubs think, that has been obvious for many years. "THE" footy club in Melbourne ... hilarious. THe only thing funnier is you actually believe it.

LOL. You do know at one stage this season we struggled to even get one tall player out on the park. I'd love to see how Richmond would've went with all the injuries to key players this year.

I wouldn't get rid of Ratten.

But Levi Casboult came into the side after only playing one game of VFL as, shock horror, he was injured for the majority of the season like every tall on our list has been.

Perhaps the entire Carlton football club, in particular the players are too blame here as well?

Didn’t Judd & Co say that they were going to make top four at the start of the year, and anything less was a fail?

The expectations of this club by some, given that they don’t have a great spine whilst having injuries too these guys, how do you expect them to dominate or for a coach to take them to the top?

Hendo and Jamison and 3rd string talls, playing as 1st options, similar with Waite, who is surrounded by some quality smalls.

I feel Ratts.

Until the board are unified and want to move in the same direction it wont matter who is coaching the club. It all filters down.

Think they should honour the contract of Ratten. They have been struck with injuries this year and yes they should have beaten GC. I don't think he is a bad coach and if they can get Kreuzer firing next year it will make a huge difference. Malthouse would be a good coach but I don't think he would necessarily do any better than Ratten. The fact Malthouse has stated next year or never has possibly placed extra pressure on Ratten.
Adding another key forward would help to.

OK thanks.

So that means all of Laidler, Henderson, Kruezer, Duigan, Casbolt, Hampson, Warnock, Waite struggled with injury this year?

Are there any talls the injury curse missed?

I'd be interested to know how many weeks the above guys played and missed as a combined total, someone should do the maths and Ratts should be shouting it from the rooftops.

I've enjoyed Malthouse on 3AW this year, his special comments, and also how at times he was defending Ratten and saying he would never speculate on coaching a club who had a coach....and yet here we are, and again it is all about Mick.

To me it's pretty simple, if Ratten stays on and they have a relatively injury and suspension free year next year and Ratten will coach the Blues deep in to the finals. Carazzo, Walker, Jamieson, Murphy, Judd, Yarran, Robinson, Simpson & Waite all missed a fair bit of the season, many missing at the same time. Geelong have been very fortunate over recent years in that regard. It'd be a shame for him not to get that chance, and to have someone take over and be hailed a genius.

Maybe but sadly the expectation on the Carlton Board is that they should be premiers without putting the hard yards recruiting and development wise into players.

They will probably trade for another top up player or 2, come out with a fancy slogan and it will again be groundhog day with all the hype. Carlton have never believed in rebuilding through the draft as most other successful clubs do and doomed to repeat this miserable year again and again if they don't start soon.

The point is kranky al that the way it was done hurt everything. Not just the guilty ones. It hurt the playingn group , it hurt the loyal workers behind the scenes for the club, it hurt the PAYING membership , it hurt future administrators and staff and coaches who were totally innocent.

The worst thing about the whole Carlton debacle that allowed cheating on a large scale by a few individuals who didn,t think about then consequences ruined a club for a very long time. That club was over punished by the AFL to the detriment of thousands of people let alone individuals inside the club.

Massive punitive action against many to punish a few is ridiculous. It goes way beyond the dirty deeds that were done it simply kills the footy business in one very lucrative area , an old and famous well earning operation called the Carlton Football Club . Carlton are still comming to terms with their poisoning by the over active AFL in the name of sports justice . What bullshit. Because AFL clubs are such a large wealthy
industry the people involved in the rort should have been prosecuted by the common law. The AFL should have left its customers alone, if a large supermmarket chain does some crooked deals you don,t tripple the prices for the customers to punish the company ??? Well in the USA you might in the banking system and sub prime lending , ha ha ha . Leave Ratten alone . He has a bloody bigger future than ego greedy Mick.

Let Mick prove himself somewhere where the the job is really hard , at Port , and lets see how good he is.
I suspect Port could ruin his reputation in history. But who really cares much about Mick , time for him and Sheedy to get out altogether.

Spoken by someone who's team is only playing Finals due to getting the softest draw in AFL history and has had the least number of injuries of all 18 clubs..........clever champ.

Please stop talking about Malthouse going to Port. Even Port fans know he is not going there.
