Stevens was poor...fair enough, but Fev was clearly the worst on ground. Surely if we are going to apply a rule it needs to be applied equally?

He was horrible. Totally disinterested, and allowed himself to be pushed around by Chris Tarrant...Chris ****ing Tarrant!!!

If it was an injury, let him get over it. If it was attitude, don't tolerate it. Either way, give him a week...it's not like this is the first time we have seen it.

Seeing as Rats is such a backstabber himself I'd say he should watch his back. Certainly he would know what to look for.
I hear you, but then we all know that things happen when Woosha drinks somebody else's milk, so you are hardly in a position to decide if the canary died of asphyxiation or natural causes.

Not the first time against Freo either which is interesting in a not very kind of way. :)

While I like Ratts, it is typical coaches spin. He will not be putting 22 players on notice. There are a few that when on song provide the team with some vital ingredients. How long do you tolerate them being off song though?
I think when he said 22, he meant that there could be some "high profile" omissions.

I think a message may be sent by dropping Nick Stevens this week, for Robinson.

Stevo has been serviceable, but he has also made some glarring errors, especially by hand, but even his kicking has been hit and miss.

I think Cloke is another who, with Fisher performing in the two's, may have a spell to get some form. He just isn't presenting the second target and imposing himself as we need him to.

Agreed that Robbo for Stevens would be a good move and send a message. Stevo is in there for his sublime skills rather than his hardness but if they are falling down too, then something has to give.

must admit i think Ratts was a little too relaxed before the game...surely he would have thought it was a danger game.

i travelled to the Gold Coast and while the boys were all doing a walk around the ground after the TAC game, Ratts made his way down to the Gold Coast Stadium side stand.

we all yelled out his name and he asked us, you boys up for a good night.....we said lets hope...and he had a smile and said me too!!

ok....being relaxed may be a good thing, but felt this week that we expected to win!!

I'm sure Ratts DID expect to win.

That said I don't think he would have taken it easy. Most of the coaches hard work happens during the week, and he probably felt they should account for Freo.......and had we made the most of the start of the third quarter he would have been right.

The fact is we have a number of key players who are just out of sorts, and it is putting a lot of pressure on to other players that are either B grade and can't cope with the added weight, or are A graders in the making and won't give you consistent results.\

A-graders out of touch - Stevens, Fevola
B-graders not coping with the added pressure - Simpson, Hadley, Betts, Cloke.

If Stevens starts to fire (if he gets a chance) and Fev fires up we look great, and the others feed off it.

Wiggins is another that has dropped off in the last two weeks, and may well make way for Robbo, giving Stevens a reprieve, otherwise we may see Hoops, Robbo and Fisher for Stevens, Wiggins, and Cloke.

Agree with much of your post but you are completely off the mark with Eddie. He's taken a step up this year, on target for 40-50 goals for the year and just about as good (with the footy) as any small forward in the league at the moment.

I'd like to see him lay a couple more tackles but the bloke is our second best forward and one of our most consistant performers so far this season.

Reading through this thread it seems there are up to 9 players that BF posters want dropped to the seconds..here's some news for you lot ..i watched the VFL game last week ..and our Carlton listed players ain't all that flash...Robinson and Hartlett were good...Fisher and Houlihan were just servicable, Yarran was okay but went missing, Ellard was pretty good for most parts until the game was there to be won and then he went to pieces under the pressure, Setanta tried hard all day.

So i can't see there being wholesale changes this week.

Yazza played up at Carrara with the big boys. I know they are trying to get some conditioning in him but playing Sat night against Freo then Sunday with the Bullants (I have forgotton who they played? Zebras? Impalas WTF knows) is going a bit far.

Perhaps you meant Garlett? I thought he was injured?

I'm quietly confident that our season is well and truly back on track after that stern warning.

Look for it to catch on with other coaches starting to issue stern warnings through the media

I'm just glad they aren't issuing those jovial lighthearted warnings any more. They seem to lack something in comparison.

'Time to get fair dinkum Clokey, if you don't present this week, I'm going to make you pull my finger again.' or 'Stevo, if you don't bust a gut this week, I am going to tickle it.'

It just wasn't working Ratts ... Stevo was practicing his Elmo laugh and Clokey thought his sinuses had never been clearer.

No more kid gloves I say!

We will play finals this year and then next year when we finish top four, with the same senior coach at the helm, I think a few of those posting in this thread will be typing a different tune.

Mitch and Fisher in this week will make it tough for their backline.
