Just heard an interview with Brett Ratten on MMM.

In a direct question to him about re-appointing Pagan , Ratten said he would have definately re-appointed him.

Now this is not designed to open debate re; who does and doesn;t like Denis.

More just to congratulate Ratts on being one of the first people I have heard talk on the subject who has put the club's interest first.
He could have burnt Denis, the current board, pushed the ticket he is ALLEGEDLY a part of.
Well done Ratts. Pity Fraser Brown hasn't done the same.

Hope he's appointed as an assistant coach. Frazer brown said in an article that he thinks Ratten would make a good coach.

What Fraser Brown has said has been disgraceful in my opinion and some of his quotes are farcical. Good to hear that from Ratten, and if the rumours that he doesn't get along with Pagan are nothing but rumours, than I'd absolutely love to have him as an assistant to Pagan next year.

What are the chances of the past Blues who were linked to the Barry Mitchell push (only by the media) filling the new Assistant Coaching roles? Greg Williams? Peter Dean ? Brett Ratten ?

well on the footy show fevola pretty much asked them to come down to the club to help out so i guess its just a matter of time to see what ends up happening

He's the first to tell it like it is, not all this "party-line" bullsh1t. He backs his talk with his own money too. You mightn't want to believe it but what he says is spot on.You prefer to hear the Board p1ss in your pocket?!

Would love to see Ratts down at the club in an assistants role. He was very much missed when he left Melbourne, and now he's apparently doing a great job in Metro footy.

IMO, he'd be the ideal bloke to replace Denis at the end of the 2008 season.

Slow down BG, i'm only thinking about adding Gibbs to our midfield next year. Adding Ratts to that equation would just about top it off for me.

-he said he wants to be an assistant and sent out CV to all melb based clubs
-he said he woulkd like to be assistant at carlton
-would be happy to be an assistsnt to pagan
-said the board was right to re appoint pagan
-he can see the positive signs of carlton's kids developing and with the addition of picks 1 - 17- 18 there is a very good base to work from
-he said there needs to be a balance of carlton people and non carlton people at the club

Sounds very reasonable to me. Ratten has taken the right attitude in all the going ons. The fact that he backs Pagan should speak volumes to many people, although I doubt it will.

I especially agree with the last point. The last thing we need is a 95 reunion down at the club. Let's get the best people and try to get a balance of retaining our history, but also an injection of new ideas and practices.

I agree here. Though I reckon S.O.S should be our future coach. Shame drop-kicks like Brown have successfully destabilised all that.

Fraser and Ratts are best mates. Fraser was best man at Ratts wedding. Do you really think they are divided on this thing? Fraser wants Ratts right along side him with all this and that's where Ratts will be.

It is interesting then they seem to differ on Pagan and the coaching position. Then at the moment it is hard to get a clear view of anything.

The effect of Brett on our young playing group would be huge, the guy as you all know was the heart and soul of our club. Brett would be a breath of fresh air for Pagan as well. Don't listen to the rumours, they both respect each other. Ratts was the type of player Pagan loves.

I would personelly like to see Kenny Sheldon return in some format, ideally in a developement role working along side the coaching staff.

Our main focus needs to be recruitment, developement and conditioning.
