I have been very impressed with Watts this year.Needs a poll for which is worse:
Pretending on the internet to be super wealthy, jet setting, unbiased expert on everything.
Versus wasting time proving the painfully obvious that PR is full of s**t.
I'd still probably vote Jack Watts but it's close.
Should I waste time showing you the amount of time in different threads PR directly quotes me in order to repeat his inane accusations or OTT spin?Needs a poll for which is worse:

If PR was posting it was only to take the thread off whatever topic it was about that he didn't like. Ratts is his dream come true.I was going to mention this crap earlier because it literally turns from the topic at hand straight to PR's past.
Maybe if he waffled less and just addressed the question or post, all threads would be much easier to get through and he would be taken more seriously.I was going to mention this crap earlier because it literally turns from the topic at hand straight to PR's past.
In the negative gearing thread, he addressed the issues multiple times. It was Ratts doing all the personal attacking.Maybe if he waffled less and just addressed the question or post, all threads would be much easier to get through and he would be taken more seriously.
Have had to put him on ignore more than once.
Okay then, you have expressed your opinion and I will stick to mine.In the negative gearing thread, he addressed the issues multiple times. It was Ratts doing all the personal attacking.
Either way, it is still childish as hell to have a topic that is actually contentious and needs to be well thought out to devolve into bickering about PR's past. I wouldn't be shocked if some people on here have lied about their past at one stage.
No, he hijacked the thread with ridiculously over-the-top spin which makes taking anything he says seriously impossible. I'm more than happy to quote him here if you really want to pursue this line of argument. In the negative gearing thread, he addressed the issues multiple times. It was Ratts doing all the personal attacking.
He knows he has no leg to stand on, so he isn't going to pretend he does in here. It took him a full month to come up with new dates after I exposed the flaws in his story and his story still doesn't make sense. He just needed help to stop me pointing out he was a proven liar and seems to have achieved that by Chief's suggestion all chat about it should be in here. So he has no need to fight anything or pretend he was wronged anymore.
1 Watt is not enough to run anything of use.I have been very impressed with Watts this year.
No, he is ignoring the thread because he knows I've both proven that the original versions on his story didn't stack up and his newly altered story (devised after a month's delay) doesn't check out either. I guess you shouldn't worry, though, because if he has a house to give you it is quite possibly negatively-geared. It might explain his months-old thread hijack in the negative gearing thread.Power Raid owes me his house after a bet in 2013 that he hasn't paid out on, is this the right thread to collect in?
In the comment section of macrobusiness, there's a more out and proud paid shill. "3d1k" arrives like clockwork to defend the interests of the mining industry and Liberal party whenever their interests or actions are questioned. As Australia's contrarian source of economic information, macrobusiness is well trafficked (I should know, I can afford a pack of gum when someone posts a link from this blog there!) and strident in its beliefs, which clearly poses a threat to some ways of thinking.
It's why that immediate subtle questioning and well argued response to every relevant article becomes the action of the astroturfer. The casual reader may not have picked up on what is actually happening, nor understand the intentions of the vested interest who always manages to appear at the top of the comments section. On macrobusiness the attempt is to undermine the different way of thinking before it gets the chance to flourish and change anything.
This brings me to the forum I'd be certain has an infestation of astroturfers, the investment forum Hotcopper. Ignore the obvious here, there shouldn't be any secret that pump and dump merchants from brokers are thick on the ground talking up the prospects of stocks. After Hotcopper's most recent money bonfire, Tangiers Petroleum burnt many fingers, the following pointer was given by a poster called psi81:
Some in particular are so formulaic in their posts that I'm pretty sure they are working for brokers. They are basically writing their posts off a pro-forma - directors' skin in the game... quality management... in it for the long term... spoke to my mate with 20 years' experience in O&G, he said... technical indicators aligning... bots and manipulation all over this trying to get you to sell... I'm topping up, it's a no brainer at this price... etc. Sound familiar? Hotcopper's resident investors are still completely blind to this. Repeatedly unable to divorce themselves from emotion and get away from potential "90 baggers" that turn into 90% losses. But I've already covered this, so I'll move onto Hotcopper's politics sub-forum.
...As someone who visits Hotcopper for a casual snoop, solely on investing, I'd never visited the politics forum. And with my general ability to switch off from things I'm not interested in (hello advertising) the politics posts on the main page hadn't really caught my eye. That was until mid last year [2013]. I'm not sure if my deflectors went down, but I noticed a serious ramp up in the political posts and the thread titles were increasingly incendiary. My first reaction was to acknowledge the election was coming, but then I wondered "who the hell comes to an investment forum to..." then I went looking. And over the past year I've continued to look.
What I found in the politics forum was a hardcore group of posters who were the most prolific on the forum. They had post counts into the tens of thousands and all of them had one thing in common - they had never once posted on a stock code - think about this - the most prolific posters on an investment forum are posters on its political sub-forum and they've never once posted on investing. I could count at least ten identifiable posters who had thousands of zero content inflammatory posts that were purely partisan LNP and they hadn't once taken off their cleats to walk off the politics forum.
These were the same old talking points - boats, carbon tax, Muslims and who lets them in, mining tax, greens, the ABC, debt, Palmer & Lambie abuse, Gillard slush fund, unions and ongoing hints at the Shorten rape case before it became public knowledge. Add in rabid defenses of any LNP position and furious gloating when any media, business or international counterpart offered the Abbott government praise.
And it appeared some of these posters, despite their clear distaste for the ABC, were getting plenty of value from it. At times there were running commentaries about what the Labor/Green/Left/Communist ABC was saying on News Breakfast, News 24, The Drum, 7:30, Media Watch and Q&A. Who has endless time to dedicate to watching the ABC and posting about it on Hotcopper's politics forum?
The Abbott government has created a hub of 37 communication and social media specialists to monitor social media and offer strategic communications advice costing taxpayers almost $4.3 million a year. Details released in Senate documents show the ''Strategic Communications Branch'' was implemented late last year, where the 37 staff are expected to oversee media within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, including Indigenous Affairs and the Office for Women. According to the documents, staff are expected to monitor social media, offer strategic communications advice and create internal newsletters graphic design support, among other duties.
A lot of the posters predate the formation of the current government, but ideological snakes will never be far from the employ of their business, think tank, strategy firm or political masters. And in the age of the private window and VPN are you actually reading the rantings of ten or twenty people, or just one who has developed multiple online identities?
Just can't seem to get him to defend himself. Maybe it has something to do with the fact i called him a proven liar and a charlatan and pointed out all the flaws in his story and even after all that he said:Sue him Power Raid
So even according to him I haven't made a slip up yet and those terms to describe him are warranted.be warned I am waiting on your first slip up to warrant a legal letter
And you'll be taking this advice when? Or have you yet to come across an attention seeking stalker?Powern Raid - fwiw my advice on dealing with attention seeking stalkers on Big Footy is to never respond to them, never refer to them and get on with life.
